Its almost impossible to arm indian army with one assault rifle.we need a battlerifle for mountains and LOC where porks are armed with G3s we need a intermediate calibre for CT ops and urban warfare.even in the US they are planning on both the NGSW and 5.56 as carbine calibre.pakis have 7.62x51 and 7.62.we should have gone for a similar route.but we arent

US Army and USMC use M4s or M4 derivatives on all their units. Specialized and special caliber rifles are very few.

We could have gone 7.62 51 mm for all assault rifles and rest carbines like jvpc or that ofb carbine for cq ops
