Nope Sig 716 DI won't be feasible for different terrains where we operate or atleast we should wait for the feedback.

For carbine an AR GP based platform is the perfect fit and we may use the same with barrel change to fire AK round.

The reliability ak offers should be reverted back with the new rifle we chose.

I know, I just want to see IWI Arad as tandard assault rifle and carbine, nothing else.

According to him a seasoned infantry man like Col Danvir Singh’s remarks doesn’t matter, MoD me sab changa si.
the problem with ak 203 is the price $1000 for any ak is joke and sig is its a complete battle rifle. every soldier acn't carry weapon and ammo of that weight and cud also cause muscular ligament issues

and 3 platforms ak, sig( DI) and ar 15 ( if caracal is pushed thrugh) training nightmare!
best way go new intermediate such as 6.5mm grendel
same caliber as 7.62. i guess with only change in barrel , bolt and a wise design wud give army its flexibilty and future security too!

however, no one in MOD nor generals, seem to ever get these idea. just follow as usuall. if ameerika gets new caliber, start simping for that. if cudn't make. drop the entire idea and go back without putting any effort

i guess these rants had been disscused by many members!

What's your opinion on Sig Sauer 716 being the mainstay weapon for our infantry?? Can it be possible??

Not the best platform to be the mainstay
Atleast in my opinion, excellenté for frontline troops where maximum impact is required and mobility can be compromised not to mention the DMR role with a magnifying scope, the AK15 was a better platform, but we ain't got brains so we pay 1100 bucks for a 103M in the facade of AK203

That EOTech is not on the dust cover, speaks volumes. I doubt after heavy usage the AK-103M of ours will become loose and won’t be fit to sport optics.
Yes that's also a problem with aks. Our best bet should be with Sig Sauer itself, we should request them for an assault rifle preferably in mcx version deamd for our requirements or Isrealis show give us arad for reasonable price for our mainstay infantry weapons

@Hariharan_kalarikkal thanks for the opinion, but do look at this Ukrainian sf soldier, if our ak203 is modified to this extent I wouldn't mind

Why would you buy a watered down AK203 only to replace parts using mod kit, if there was an option available to not go through this ridiculous process
That too at 1100 bucks apiece, AK 15 imo is the best if an AK platform is to be selected for infantry needs
If they're gonna modify the rifle after buying the watered down version, there are two ways to touch your nose either you touch from the front, or you touch it with your hand around the back of your head

SSS Defence is a small arms company in India, in 2019 they unveiled their snipers and next year their assault rifles.
Ya'll Nibbiars their P 72 is just a mixture bhelpuri of different parts from the world. That's also unlicensed. Probably will face lawsuits.

Or let's not select ak anymore and take ar as our mainstay and modify it

I have full confidence with Sig Sauer than Kalashnikov, since sig is more innovative and competitive than the Russian and will give us a modified version of assault rifle for our requirements for reasonable price if asked, only problem with be tech transfer with negotiations will be made. If they could do MG3, then they will do anything for a bulk order especially from a country like India. If they secure a huge deal with Indian armed forces and partner with them their reputation grows like wildfire

The AK-103M/203 dust cover is different from that of any previous AKs.

It is both hinged at the front & has a retention lock at the rear. This is obviously still not as good as a pin-retained upper receiver like on AR-15s, but it is likely to be much better in terms of retaining zero compared to previous AKs (where the dust cover is only slide-locked at the rear & loosely comes off (just like on INSAS).
