How much is per unit cost of IWI Arad??
Searched everywhere on net. Didn't get shit. Someone in a youtube video told it's $3000, but he was assuming becoz tavor cost that much. Considering Israelis overprice their weapons i won't be surprised if it costs > $2200

.300 BLK was designed to be adaptable to a 5.56 caliber platform, with suitable weapon conversion kits. This limitation of magazine well and BCG of 5.56 caliber rifles, made them unadaptable to 7.62 caliber, hence the developement of .300 BLK

Weiger stg 941 was ordered by Indian army (
most probably after evaluation for SLR replacement but due to German reunification the entire order was cancelled and amount was reimbursed ). 7000 rifles were delivered by 1989 as per the 1st website. Entire INSAS project wouldn't have started, if unified Germany didn't close that factory. Hk lobby?

Basically a derivative of 7.62 AK round or to replace it. IT is 7.62*35mm but shaped such that it can fit a 5.56 NATO mag.

Slightly better performance but AK round is cheaper and widely available.

Never knew it can fire 7.62 Russian. It can fire only 5.56 NATO and 300 BLK.
Most rifles these days are designed to fire different ammo Sig MCX is one of those. They delivered few kits to Poland I think for AK round conversion.

In any case we can always ask for that won't be an issue. We have enough AK mag to fit in.

Reference for mcx in 7.62x39 mm conversion kit as stated by @Flying Dagger

One thing I hate about 7.62x39mm variant of MCX is the use of Sig's proprietary magazine. Ak mags would have been great for us as we would have tons of them, but ak mags don't function reliably on ar platform, case in point ccmg / Ukranian ar ak mutant rifle

That can be adjusted if we opt for it then ak mags are given.

Big orders result in big modification and adjustments.

The competition of carbine is for 5.56 mm caliber rifles only. No compatibility with 7.62*39 mm is required in the RFI.
If Army indeed wants that kind of modularity option, they can have a relook at MCIWS platform, which was dropped in 2016-17 due to change in requirement.
That wasn't dropped due to change of requirement but army didn't liked that rifle and had issue with ofb product.

The reason we are discussing adaptability with different rounds has nothing to do with army rfi either.

But instead in case we go for carbine production here we can use the same for ak replacement and drop ak 103 deal.

If they strictly follow RFI there wouldn't be any massive amount of competitors at all and then single vendor situations may rise.
