^^ They are banking on the fact that since they have nukes they can perpetually blackmail the West to keep the money flowing or else the nukes "may fall into the hands of the non-state actors who wish to perpetuate war and terrorism against the Western civilisation and their interests"

This line of thinking was always there but now is being increasingly articulated in the sham "talk shows" that are really ISPR broadcasts..
USA has already conveyed the fix, that they will get hold of all the paki nukes in that case.
A nuke state USSR imploded without firing a single shot. So will pak
Its not about the nukes,,its about the people and the larger game at play.
Those who had drawn plans to slice pakistan would have vectored the nuke part earlier into the game..already..

Social media mainly responsible for radicalisation in Kashmir: Army chief

Army chief General Bipin Rawat today blamed social media for the rise in radicalisation among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and said it was being tackled with a "lot of seriousness".

Rawat, on a day-long visit here, also brushed aside the issue of alleged braid chopping incidents in the state as a "routine matter" which the civil administration and the police would deal with.

"Radicalisation is taking place. It is a worldwide phenomenon that radicalisation is taking place. We are addressing it with a lot of seriousness," Rawat told reporters here when asked about radicalisation in the Kashmir Valley.

Rawat, while speaking on the sidelines of a function where he presented the President's Standards to 47 Armoured Regiment, said that the Jammu and Kashmir government, the police, the administration and everybody was concerned about radicalisation.

"We are trying to ensure that people are being weaned away from this kind of radicalisation," he said.

The Army chief blamed the social media for the radicalisation of people, particularly the youth in the state.

"It (radicalisation) is happening mainly because of the social media," he said.

Asked if the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raids were aimed at mellowing down the separatists in the Valley and giving a jolt to the stone pelters, Rawat said, "When the whole of the government approach is adopted then every aspect and every machinery of the government is to play a part and whatever success the NIA raids have achieved will emerge in the near future." On the challenge being faced by the government and the security agencies due to the alleged braid chopping incidents which have triggered violent protests in the state, Rawat said, "Why do you see it as a challenge." It has been happening in other parts of the country and now it has started happening in Kashmir as well, the Army chief said.

"We don't see it as a challenge. It is a routine matter. Civil administration and police is taking action into it and it will be foiled," he said.

Asked if the separatists were taking advantage of this to trigger turmoil in the Valley, he said the role of the media was important to uncover the truth behind i

All Indian Army Soldiers Guarding Border With China Will Now Learn Mandarin
Tuesday, October 24, 2017 By: NDTV Source Link: CLICK HERE

All jawans and officers of the Indo-Tibetan Border Force (ITBP), which guards the border with China, will be taught basic Mandarin to help them deal with soldiers of China's People's Liberation Army, union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said today.

"Arrangements are being made to make sure that every ITBP jawan and officer knows basic Mandarin language at the training level so that they don't face language issues at the border during face-offs with the PLA," said the minister at a function of the paramilitary force in Delhi.

A Chinese language cell was created at the ITBP's academy in Mussoorie earlier this year to teach Mandarin. Some 150 jawans have already been taught Mandarin, and now it has been made a must for all ITBP jawans and officers to learn the foreign language.

Rajnath Singh also said that his ministry is considering a proposal to build 50 more border outposts at the Indo-China Border and that work is on at a fast pace on 25 roads in Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to connect the border outposts.

A force of about 90,000 ITBP men guard the almost 3,500 km-long India-China border. Of them only a few senior officers know Mandarin, for which they are trained mid-career.

It was after the Doklam standoff, which saw Indian and Chinese soldiers stare down each other at the border in Sikkim for almost 70 days earlier this year that the ITBP decided it must train new recruits in Manadarin and also the Tibetan spoken in the area to help interact with locals who move round the Line of Actual Control or LAC. ITBP personnel are always posted alongside Indian Army jawans along the India-China border.

The Doklam plateau is located at a tri-junction of India, Tibet and Bhutan and is claimed by both Beijing and Bhutan. In mid-June, Indian soldiers crossed the Sikkim border to stop the construction of a Chinese road near the "Chicken's Neck", a thin strip that links India to its northeastern states. The stand-off, described as the worst in decades, ended in August with both countries saying they were withdrawing their troops.

There have been other face-offs between troops of the two countries at the border, an average of about a dozen incidents a year, and not understanding each other's language often escalates friction, officials say.

The language barrier has also caused a problem in communication at various meetings held between officers of the forces guarding the border on each side.

Centre mulls building 50 more outposts at India-China border
Tuesday, October 24, 2017 By: TNN Source Link: CLICK HERE

Highlights

  • Proposal to build 50 more outposts at Indo-China border is being considered
  • Knowledge of basic mandarin language will be made mandatory for ITBP officers to bridge the language gap, the home minister said

Union home minister Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday the MHA is considering the proposal to build 50 more border outposts at the India-China Border.

The minister said work is going on at a fast pace on 25 roads+ in Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to connect the border outposts.

"Arrangements are being made to make sure that every ITBP jawan/officer knows basic Mandarin language at training level so that they don't face language issues at the border during face-offs with PLA," he said.

He also said a model border post is being constructed at Ladakh and if it is successful, the same model will be implemented at all BoPs.

The ministry of home affairs has made Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) the nodal force for use of G-SAT communication and surveillance satellites for monitoring Indian borders from the sky.

The approval of providing a dedicated satellite bandwidth to border security forces will allow BSF, which guards borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh, SSB - which guards Indo-Nepal border and ITBP itself, which guards border with China, to have better communication network even at high altitude or remote border outposts and also scan suspected activities at the border through the satellite.

Speaking at ITBP raising day on Tuesday, DG R K Pachnanda said, "We are thankful to MHA for making ITBP the nodal agency for GSAT Centre".

Sources say that recent standoff with China at Doklam forced the government to consider giving satellite bandwidth to security forces at the border for real time monitoring.

TOI had first reported in September first week+ that the government was considering dedicated satellite bandwidth to enable border guarding forces to monitor the movement of Pakistani and Chinese troops in real time, track terrorist infiltration, map terrain and communicate effectively in remote areas, besides assessing the strength of soldiers and artillery deployed by neighbours near the border in case of a stand-off.

Sources say that several rounds of meetings had taken place in MHA alongwith BSF, ITBP, SSB and Isro officials, during which it was discussed whether a single satellite would be enough to monitor activities on the borders or if each force needed to be provided a dedicated satellite bandwidth.

It was felt that command, control, communication, surveillance, intelligence and reconnaissance abilities of border security forces -- the first line of border defence -- needed to be made impregnable, they said. The proposal is in the initial stages, but sources said the government was serious about it.

An officer said, "Satellites can play an important role in border management, and India has some of the best ones in Asia. While defence forces already use space technology, border forces depend on intelligence shared by central agencies like IB, RAW and National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO). They also faced poor communication issues in areas like Ladakh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Kashmir Valley. With satellite technology for real-time information, future incidents can be better dealt with."

India shares over 15,000 km of borders with Pakistan, China, Bangladesh, Nepal and Myanmar. The armed forces currently use 13 Isro satellites to watch land and maritime boundaries.

The Navy has a dedicated military satellite, G-sat 7 or "Rukmini" which monitors the Indian Ocean Region as it has a nearly 2,000 nautical mile "footprint".

The Cartosat-2 series advanced remote sensing satellite, launched on June 23,+ has added teeth to India's military surveillance capabilities as its high-resolution PAN camera can cover a swathe of 9.6 km and its spatial resolution is less than one metre.

The MHA is also providing border forces with modern electronic surveillance equipment like night-vision devices, thermal imagers, battlefield surveillance radars, direction finders, unattended ground sensors and high-powered telescopes.

Appointment of interlocutor will not affect Army ops against terrorists in J-K : Army Chief Gen. Bipin Rawat

Bipin Rawat today said the appointment of an interlocutor to engage in dialogue with stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir would not impact Army operations in the state.

The government, he said, was speaking from a "position of strength" on the Kashmir issue.

The government's existing policy on Jammu and Kashmir had helped in improving the overall situation in the state, he told reporters on the sidelines of a FICCI event here.

Asked whether the appointment of former Intelligence Bureau chief Dineshwar Sharma as interlocutor would impact the Army's operations in the state, he said, "My one-word answer is no, it will not."

The government on Monday appointed Sharma as its special representative for a "sustained dialogue" with all stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir, in a fresh move aimed at bringing peace to the troubled state.

Responding to a question on whether Sharma's appointment meant that the tough policy on Kashmir was not working, he said, "I do not think so. What is in your mind is not correct. The policy of the government has worked. The government is speaking from a position of strength."

He said incidents of cross-border infiltration had come down and the overall situation in the state had improved significantly in the last few months.

"In January, you had asked me whether the situation has deteriorated in Kashmir, whether we have lost Kashmir. Now you analyse where is Kashmir?" he asked.

"We have killed terrorists on the Line of Control because of which the situation has improved.

Army chief pitches for developing domestic defence industry

New Delhi, Oct 25 (PTI) India must fight the next war with home-made solutions, Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat said today while strongly pitching for developing the domestic defence industry.

"We must win the next war with home-made solutions," he said at a conference on defence modernisation at FICCI.

The Army chief also underlined the need for developing an indigenous intelligence and surveillance system to keep a hawk eye vigil on the borders with China and Pakistan as well as to ensure foolproof security at military installations in the hinterland.

In this context, Gen Rawat also spoke about the Pathankot and Uri terror attacks, noting that security at military installations was becoming a matter of concern.

"Security of our installations in hinterland is becoming a cause of concern because we keep getting reports about likelihood of some attacks on the lines of Uri and Pathankot in some of our bases," the Army chief said.

He said the private sector must join hands with the government to find solutions to the needs of the security forces.

Stressing on developing the domestic defence industry, Gen Rawat said the Army was working with the private sector and academia on developing indigenous systems and platforms.

The Army chief also urged the private sector to utilise its financial resources for carrying out research and development activities, focusing on requirement of the armed forces.

India is a leading importer of arms and military platforms globally and the NDA government has listed indigenisation of defence manufacturing as a priority area. PTI MPB R

BJP to celebrate 'Accession day' like Diwali in Jammu tomorrow
"The historic day forms an essential part of our lives and every resident of the state must celebrate it with full pomp and show. BJP is holding grand celebrations at its district headquarters while the main function is being organised at the sprawlingground at Parade here," Sharma said.

The BJP will celebrate October 26, the day Maharaja Hari Singh signed the "instrument of accession of Jammu and Kashmir with India in 1947", as 'Vilay Diwas' and with the same gusto as Diwali is celebrated.

The party's state chief Satpal Sharma appealed to people to join the celebrations with enthusiasm.

He also asked the people to show the strength of the "nationalistic population" so that the "nefarious designs of few separatists are destroyed".

"The historic day forms an essential part of our lives and every resident of the state must celebrate it with full pomp and show. BJP is holding grand celebrations at its districtheadquarters while the main function is being organised at the sprawlingground at Parade here," Sharma said.

Senior BJP leaders including Union minister Jitendra Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and party's Jammu and Kashmir in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna are expected to take part in the main event in the winter capital, he said.

Sharma said the accession of Jammu and Kashmir with India was "full and final" adding that the party was celebrating the "accession day as Vilay Diwas" (Integration Day).

Sharma said this was not the programme of one political party but of every resident of the state and therefore must be celebrated with full vigour and enthusiasm in every home in the region.

"Although the elder generation is aware of the facts and the sacrifices made, it is our duty to pass on this legacy and history to the younger generations so that they also are aware of our proud history and culture," he said.

The BJP has been celebrating Vilay Diwas every year.
