Second test was declared 110% sucess unlike what is quotted on the article. It lasted for 1 Hr 10 minutes and missile traveled within 10 m of designated path loiter around the target before hitting it.
It didn't have low altitude intended in operational version.
We must complete work on.such missiles ASAP.
US has Tomahawk, Russian Federation and PRC have even longer (nearly 2500-4000km massive) range cruise missiles.

If you all have read about the tests, then you might have noticed that out of three tests, two tests had to be aborted due to 2nd stage malfunction. First time it was the separation of the 2nd stage and third time too problem occurred after it got separated from its booster.
Now IMO this could have happened primarily for two reasons.
1---- faulty command system for stage separation.
2---- faulty 2nd stage engine function.
Now first reason could be behind failure of first stage, but it can't be for failure of third stage as 2nd flight had been a success. Based on this I hope that problem was there in its 2nd stage turbo fan engine.
Now lets keep our finger crossed about its next flight test.

Nirbhay Updates:

Bengaluru: No combat role for Tapas (Rustom-2) UAV, which had its maiden flight recently. DRDO Chairman S Christopher told media persons here on Sunday that TAPAS-BH-201(Tactical Advanced Platform for Aerial Surveillance-Beyond Horizon-201) will be in a non-combat role.

“Media reports are incorrect. Tapas is an UAV and not UCAV,” Christopher said. He said the UAV is developed for surveillance purpose only at a total cost of Rs 1,500 crore. “We have to make 10 platforms as part of the project. It was a challenging mission for the team, which consisted of youngsters,” said Tapas Programme Director A P V S Prasad.

On a specific query on the Final Operational Clearance for Tejas, Aeronautical Development Agency head Cmde C D Balaji (Retd) said the process will be completed next year.

“We hope that Tejas would get the FOC by mid of 2017. The BVR Derby missile will be fired again next month. The gun integration work is completed. The air-to-air refuel ling probe too will be tested next year,” Balaji said.

DRDO DG (Aero) C P Ramanarayanan said LCA with Kaveri engine might fly in 2018. He said DRDO is already in consultation with Snecma. Already Rs 2,105 crore has been spent on the project. Another Rs 600 crore is likely to be needed for the testing phase.

On Nirbhay missile, Aeronautical Development Establishment Director M V K V Prasad said a low-flight trial will be held next month.

“This will be followed by two more flights. Work on the air variant is on,” Prasad added.

I was curious to know which missile it will be, NGARM or Nirbhay. So, it's Nirbhay. Fine.

NAVAREA warning is issued for this month 21 to 24 .

Nirbhay test will be next month according to article .
Means something else more is being cooked. And, if we're not told, there'll be some new strategic weapon.:biggrin2:
My wishful thinking after Modi's several surprises, is ASAT test. Earlier in August this year, we have discussed about that accuracy in apogee in which Satellite was placed by GSLV, means we're ready.

21 to 24, time period from tomorrow to Thursday.
Bravo! :peace:
Let's see if I'm that lucky.

India is testing PAD and AAD which are anti Ballistic Air Defence System just like David's Goliath and Sling Shot and Prithvi 2 is mimicked as incoming missile. The actual test is of these two missiles and not Prithvi which is obsolete and is being used for target practicing.

Both the tests are different. AAD is yet to be done and the Mimic of Prithvi as target missile has been already done for the purpose.

In salvo mode, the two surface-to-surface missiles which have a strike range of 350 km and are capable of carrying 500 kg to 1,000 kg of warheads were successfully test-fired in quick succession from a mobile launcher from launch complex-3 of the Integrated Test Range at around 9.35 am, defence sources said.
This is done in salvo mode today morning and Phritvi II is very much in service with IA and undergoes time to time user trial per year.
