I'm not a fanboy of either Rafael or f35.View attachment 43150
Why Rafale fanboys have to badmouth F-35 in order to look good? That insecurity is very evident in this “Rafale thread” where most talk is about how “bad” F-35 is!
Some basics of stealth: (also take some time to see the image above and look at the ranges. Also, the detection range is for a maximum-power, narrow-angle search. In conventional search mode, the detection range is down by 50%.)
It sounds like Rafale is somehow made ”almost” stealth by making fanciful claims. In BVR combat against a true 5th Gen stealth aircraft, these legacy fighters will never know what hit them.
Here’s some declassified info:
The RCS of 1 or 0.1 m2 (which Rafale claims) doesn’t really matter to modern airborne radars. Even 0.05 is too much. Because even at that level of stealth, targets can be identified at max launch range of BVR A2A. Only exponential level of stealth can change the BVR combat.
The F-35 RCS is compared to a “golf ball” and the F-22’s to “a marble”; these objects have RCS of 0.0013 m2 and 0.0002 m2, respectively. That is exponential growth in stealth and for each decimal increase, detection range goes down by ~40%. (0.1 M2 RCS of Rafale will get detected at over 100km by Irbis-E and much earlier with AESA). So, in order to launch A2A first without risking passive engagement, stealth must be in 0.001 M2 range.
The meaning of all this is that F-35 doesn’t need very long range missiles or afterburner use to sneak up on unsuspecting 4th Gen fighters. It can get really close and fire within no escape zone of AMRAAM or even Sidewinder. The only time Rafale or Eurofighter can detect F-35 is when bay opens to fire the missile- too late.
Now coming to point . Your shitty diagram posts ranges of su35 pesa radar. And even if a su35 can see f35 at 60 km now wonder how a powerful anti stealth radar will see it which is hundreds of times more powerful then su35!! What happens to stealth then?
Rafale has aesa . Learn the difference before making a fool of yourself.
Secondly nez if aim120 is pathetic compared to modern ramjet based bvr.
Thirdly passive sensor can detect far ahead then nez of aim 120 thus negating the stealth of attacker. Why do you think USA is even developing aim260 ? If they were as stupid as you are then they will just use f35 with aim120 and not waste money on aim 260 buy guess what they know aim120 negates the stealth of f35.
And you want some declassified info . I'll say it just once. Your f35 level stealth can be tracked much farther then you realise. You have no idea how far radar tech has progress in last 5 years!
But keep living in lala land. Hope it helps you sleep.
