I always knew the Dassult Rafael will win but i had doubts because EF-2000 may have improved its tech specs and they had newer engines with more thrust but looking at the result EF-2000 is worse than LCA in terms of project maturity. Sources say EF-2000 may not even be ready till 2016.

However engine is one area the Raff must improve, its thrust is still in the 4th generation specs. The eco core is not yet ready and has faced some problems in induction. Also the French have refused to accept to work with the Kaveri and instead they want us to take the Eco core and work with it. These points i thought may have been lagging.
What is a 5th gen thrust ? 9tons and more? sorry Bro, that means nothing.
ECO core is ready. Until some years....

R Infra arm's venture with Dassault Aviation gets CCI nod

NEW DELHI, FEB 6:
Reliance Infrastructure today said its defence unit Reliance Aerostructure Ltd’s proposed joint venture with Dassault Aviation has received clearance from the Competition Commission of India (CCI).

“Reliance Infrastructure Ltd—promoted Reliance Aerostructure Ltd’s proposed JV with Dassault Aviation has received the CCI clearance,” Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) said in a statement.

The JV company is proposed to be named as ‘Dassault Reliance Aerospace Ltd’ (DRAL).

Reliance Aerostructure Ltd (RAL) will have 51 per cent shareholding in the JV while Dassault Aviation (DA) will hold 49 per cent.

In October last year, Reliance Group had entered into a strategic partnership with Dassault Aviation of France (Rafale) to execute the largest Defence Offset contract worth up to Rs. 30,000 crore.

This was subsequent to Dassault Aviation getting a contract for the supply of 36 Rafale fighter aircrafts from the Government of India for Rs. 60,000 crore with 50 per cent offset clause.

The execution of offset clause will bring in the largest FDI in defence sector till date, expected to be more than 10 times the total FDI in entire defence sector in India in last 10 years.

Aero India 2017: All eyes on Rafale!
DECCAN CHRONICLE. | ROHAN RAMESH

It is one of the very few fighters with that diversity of roles.

India also has an option for 18 more aircraft which can be exercised in the future.
Bengaluru: One of the main attractions at the AeroIndia 2017 will be Dassault Aviation's Rafale 'omnirole' fighter that was designed for nine specific roles: Air-defence/air-superiority, anti-access/air denial, reconnaissance, close air support, dynamic targeting, air-to-ground precision strike/interdiction, anti-ship attacks, nuclear deterrence, and buddy-buddy refuelling. It is one of the very few fighters with that diversity of roles.

India is buying 36 of Rafales, which can also play the role 'airborne strategic delivery system', which in simple English means they can carry nuclear bombs. The first squadron of Rafale that India will receive will be deployed on the Chinese border in the north-east and are set to be hardwired for nuclear delivery. India also has an option for 18 more aircraft which can be exercised in the future.

This acquisition illustrates the strategic relationship between India and France and marks the culmination of the relationship initiated in 1953 when India became Dassault Aviation's first export customer.

"Dassault Aviation, the Rafale manufacturer, has contributed proudly to India's defence preparedness for more than 60 years. Demonstrating the Rafale capabilities in Aero India, is reaffirming our total commitment to India's sovereignty. We have had a long standing relationship with Indian Air Force and industry and, thanks to the unmatched capabilities of the Rafale and to our full involvement in the innovative approach of the 'Make in India' initiative, we are entirely dedicated to partner India in meeting its strategic defence and economic needs," said Eric Trappier, Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation.

Boeing to display large-scale models
Aerospace behemoth Boeing of the United States has limited its participation in Aero India 2017 to display of large-scale models and interactive displays to showcase the company's advanced commercial and defense products and services capabilities of interest to India. A KC-46A Air Refueling Operator System will be available to visitors for demonstrations. "Boeing's participation at the show will highlight its enduring defence and commercial footprint in India and demonstrate alignment with the 'Make in India' initiative," says a release. Experts from Boeing, however, will be on hand to discuss defence capabilities of military jets such as the F/A-18 Super Hornet, KC-46 tanker, C-17 Globemaster III, P-8I aircraft, AH-64D Apache, CH-47F Chinook, V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft and ScanEagle and Integrator unmanned airborne system.

Rafale to showcase 3 fighter aircraft at Aero India
ANIL URS

BENGALURU, FEB 10:
Rafale International is to showcase its capabilities at Aero India 2017.

Rafale fighter aircraft will be showcased at the Air Force Station, Yelahanka, in Bengaluru, during the event to be held from February 14-18.

Three Rafale fighter aircraft will be on display -- one single-seat Rafale C and two 2-seat Rafale B, and a daily flight “solo” display will be performed.

Rafale’s participation in Aero India following the acquisition of 36 Rafales by India in September 2016, is consistent with Rafale International’s endeavour to illustrate its commitment to India and to Indian interests.

Dassault Aviation, the Rafale manufacturer, has contributed to India’s defence preparedness for more than 60 years. Demonstrating Rafale’s capabilities in Aero India, reaffirms the company’s commitment to India’s sovereignty.

“This acquisition illustrates the strategic relationship and the exemplary partnership maintained between India and France and marks the natural culmination of the relationship of trust initiated in 1953 when India became Dassault Aviation’s first export customer,” said Eric Trappier, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dassault Aviation.

“This further success of the Rafale confirms the technological knowhow and competences of Dassault Aviation and its partners, Thales and Safran Aircraft Engines, and represents a decisive step forward in achieving Dassault Aviation’s goal of establishing itself in India with a view to developing wide-ranging cooperation under the ‘Make in India’ policy,” he added.

It is done to reduce the load on disc brakes on the wheels and allow for longer life of wheel.

Ah I got it, still I don't think the N-LCA could possibly compete with the Rafale-M in a head to head fight.
IN has no options it's either Mig29/35k which it does not want or NLCA with twin engine. If NLCA doesn't materialize then only Mig29/35k will be ordered. No other fighter Fits INS Vikramaditya or Vikrant.

That's BS that PSK is spreading around, the Rafale can operate from the Vikrant, the Vikramditya has its airwing. The 57 RFI is for the Vikrant's airwing.

BTW my personal choice is Rafale too. It's the most advanced and almost a 5th gen fighter with awesome payload capacity. I too would like to see Rafale in IN colors.

Rafale can take off on ski jump but the load is not know. The only competitors are Rafale M and Mig 29k2.
