The government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi inches closer to securing a deal for 36 Dassault Rafale elite stealth fighter jets with France in an exchange that is expected to be worth $8.3 billion according to defense industry analysts. The final condition that the two countries must work out is a waiver provision, demanded by India, to avoid paying a deposit of $152 million to secure the contract.

Sources with India’s Hindustan Timessuggest that a deal has already been struck "as India had put its foot down on doing away with the advance guarantee clause as it was a government-to-government sale" with France trusting that the New Delhi government had more than enough reserves to back the exchange.

The newspaper’s sources indicate that India’s Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar conveyed the country’s position regarding the need to waive the deposit clause via diplomatic channels to France on Thursday. It appears that Paris did not object to the condition and no other issues existed in the deal.

The news comes after the defense minister informed Lok Sabha (the lower chamber of the Indian parliament) that a team was negotiating to buy the French fighter jets manufactured by Dassault Aviation and that the team of negotiators had submitted their final report in favor of the acquisition.

The deal will not become complete, however, until India sends an agreement-in-principle to the finance minister who must first provide clearance on any transfer of state funds. Subsequently, the deal will be sent to the Cabinet Committee on Security, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi where it will await final confirmation before entering into force.

It's India which has selected Rafale, not the contrary.
Have a nice day Rafale heater.

You can say "chose the plane" ONLY after they sign the deal, till then its just interest.
There are lot of rumours thats started by pro-plane camps which a lot of time twist some news.

For example the fhe news about India going to sign Rafale soon, is it official news from official named source? If yes then lets wait for it, if not then its useless rumour like CEO of Dassault has been claiming that the deal will be signed in "few days" for past few years already..

You can start counting sheeps... Malaysia.. doubt it,,

Korea, NL, Morocco cose the fighter. In the 2 first, only US pressure and/or diplomatic umbrella help US plane to win. In Morocco it was a 100% french failure....

Now Egypt, Qatar.
Tomorrow I'm sure India will be the third export Customer. And Malaysia just after.
Next year it will be UAE

***

Interception. How many times Rafale beat EF in the swiss eval role ? It's easier in the other sens : just One.

Why does anyone has to be a "rafale hater" if they dont want it for IAF.
Many logical people have that idea and surely this guy came with reason,.. there is no valid reason for pro Rafale camp that India spend billions of its tax money on junk like Rafale which maybe is slightly better than obsolete Mirage 2000

It's India which has selected Rafale, not the contrary.

What gadeshi quoted was based on swiss eval report,, and yet you say that Rafale pilots are not allowed to go past Mach 1.8 and Eurofighter pilots are allowed which makes Eurofiighter better in A2A role

Enough to reach mach 2. French pilots are not authorised to go beyond mach 1.8 for economic reason.

GOOD NEWS :: No Issues Exist in Rafale Deal between India & France

Subsequently, the deal will be sent to the Cabinet Committee on Security, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi where it will await final confirmation before entering into force.

The deal will help the Indian Air Force (IAF) to fill a growing capability gap with the drawdown of its fighter fleet. The IAF has 33 fighter squadrons – consisting of 18 jets, but it requires 45 combat planes to counter threats from China and Pakistan according to the country’s military planners.

Initially, India looked to acquire 126 fighter jets, but budgetary constraints mitigated against such an aggressive outflow of money on defense spending forcing authorities to instead pursue the purchase of 36 jets in a one-off purchase from France.

The 1,188MPH Dassault Rafale is considered by some defense analysts to be the most lethal fighter jet in the skies today thanks in large part to its near fifth-generation level stealth capabilities.

Well if its unnamed source then, its best to wait,
IT is best to wait for official source, or better still for the deal to be signed,..
Still there are legal issues

Hi Hi Hi.
Rafale slighlty better than Mirage 2000 ..... 9.7 tons thrust vs 15.... Non AESA vs AESA.

In this case SU35 is less than slightly better than Su27 and Su30.

Rafale is slightly better than Mirage 2000 and so we have mirage 2000 and even their upgrade wont help

su-35 is different plane altogether than Su-30 MKI, look similar, as they have same family, but different in terms of everything except generic family name

Su 35 different than Su27/30 ? same plan form, same config (without canards....). all is the same.

Rafale can carry 9.5 tons. Mirage 2000 : 6tons (ie more than 50% more. indeed, it is slight..... I will ask my Boss monday a sightly wage increase of 50% ...)
Rafale 13/14 hard points. Mirage : 9 (ie 45 to 55% more)
Manoeuvrability, range : Rafale better or far better.
Radar : Rafale better. No OSF in the Mirage. No sat link in the Mirage. Not the same electronic suit....

There is only one thing less in Rafale : Max speed. In the missile aera, speed was considered by French air force a secondary advantage.

Su-35S and Su-27S...
Yeah, the same but the completely different airframe inner structure twice encreased lifetime, 3 tons lighter and 2 tons of fuel extra :)
Different intakes, nose section and wing with optimal deformated centerline surfaces :)

Maybe SU24 are not equipped with a digital radio. It's not an up to date plane.
You don't need an digital radio to communicate in international frequency as they are in analog frequency and all digital radio have conventional mode.

When we test a radio we normally put the aircraft radio in conventional mode and then test it.
