Remember the 5.56 X 30 Amogh over 5000 of those rifles have also been supplied. Much bigger orders can be had if ammo supply is sorted out.

Excalibur Mk-II weighing 3.6 kgs will be unveiled soon by OFB. Will sport picatinny rails etc.

The Indian Army's own infantry school had cleared the Excalibur as an INSAS replacement way back in 2005.

The Indian Coast Guard has emerged as a major buyer of the Amogh 5.56 x 30 mm carbine.

Importantly DRDO's ARDE laboratory is currently developing an indigenous 7.62 x 51 mm light machine gun.

Huge production improvements are being made on the Excalibur with a Mk-3 being closer to 3 kgs in weight
.

Even OFB is now pushing for comparative trials between the Excalibur and foreign 5.56mm rifles.

Excalibur is a improved version of 1B1 rifle which is assault rifle of Indian Army, Excalibur has full auto and shorter compare to 1B1 rifle in service, It is also lighter than 1b1 ..

1B1 is GSQR based Assault Rifle, It is has burst and semi auto option, It was designed in early 90s ..

Amogh is a carbine chambered for 5.56 x 30mm rounds which are half the size of 1B1 5.56 x 45mm rounds, These are carbine and shorter intended for use on CQB ..

@Kunal sir . What r big differences in Exacalibur , Amogh and 1B1 ?

Rather than the Army, these new small arms will be much more useful to the CAPFs and the state police who while fighting unconventional warfare require such weapons. As far as the Army is concerned, I dont think so they will change their GSQR as it now wants a multi-cal rifle. The CRPF, BSF, ITBP and CISF especially that engages in CQB will benefit the most with these guns where the INSAS depresses.

INSAS is the family of Indian firearm, I think you meant 1B1 ..

1B1 is good in CQB, But lack the full-auto of a Carbine, Excaliber work better in this conditions ..

Excaluber is already being issued to many units, Couple of pictures are posted few pages back ..

Sir, are there any pics of Excalibur Mk-3 out ? and what sort of ''huge production improvements'' are being made that Saurav Jha speaks of?

Instead just going to make a clone of AK and renaming it, OFB should have placed atleast came up with some innovative modifications;
1-Integrated rails in the receiver to mount scopes.
2-Rear sight at the very end of receiver like that in M-16/4s or like in new AK-12
3-AK-74 or M-4 or the recoil compensator used by Russian SF instead of the age old slant muzzle brake.
4-90 Degree gas block instead of the old 45 degre gas block.
5-Instead of Fixed or folding stocks it should have M4 type collapsing butt stocks with recoil buffers just like the one we spotted in the DRDOs multoi cal weapon.
6-A better fire selector just like the ones in VZ,AK12 or those American gunsmiths shows us in youtube.

Improvised solutions, These scopes are design for OFB 5.56mm but still effective if mounted and calibrated properly ..

Design based on GSQR by Paramilitary and other forces, It is not an independent design by OFB like in case of Excalibur ..

Sir, Its a data based on their iron sights, The range of the Rifle can be enhanced with aid of optical scopes, 1B1 range with scope is beyond 600ms accurately, INSAS LMG range can be more than 900ms with optical scope ..

The barrel of the LMG is indeed longer also thicker compare to Rifles and indeed has enhanced range than rifle and durability ..

sir then how come INSAS rifle range 400 meters and INSAS LMG 700 meters , is it relates to the barrel length of the LMG ?
