Indian Reserve Battalion ( IRB ) of
Sikkim Police gets OFB Excalibur MK-1 Rifle
Two in the center are Excalibur MK-1 & other two are INSAS 1B1 Folding stock
You can clearly see difference between barrel length , front iron sight & butt stock

Due to various new Rifles being developed by DRDO and ofb, the Dalal procurement system is trying to import Rifles by changing nomenclature

As the import of assault Rifles is difficult because of development of insas, excalibur, MCI WS therefore 5.56*45 assault Rifles are being imported under a nomenclature of carbine. Look at use of M4 by US. Due to the development of faster propellants, the difference between carbine rifle and LMG is very minimal. Google IAR HK 416

Similarly dmr is being procured under the nomenclature of Battle rifle to avoid procurement of 7.62x51 ofb rifle

The import of AK 103 is to kill the development and production of Ghatak

The imports will not stop here. we will import spare parts, accessories, Ammu, production plant of Rifles, production plant of ammo and continue to remain dependent on foreign procurement of small arms for next 100 years.

this is extremely regressive policy and we are going to become dependent on foreign companies for small arms import after more than hundred years.

Let us hold hands a say a prayer for this rifle, which could've been a killer.
Had they developed a 6.8mm version of this rifle? Imho, Americans are doing the same for replacing their older 5.56x45 mm rifles.

Think so beacause it was supposed to be a multi caliber rifle.

Which and what rifle is this?

Need to know before we prey that who assures quality?
MCIWS,I suppose it is.
Being a Multi Cal rifle it is designed to fire 6.8 Remington rounds also.Dunno about it's status tho.

MCIWS project was converted to single caliber 7.62 NATO AAR project.

as of last year MCIWS is considered closed, as per cabinet committee report.
