When they classify an AK or INSAS and an ACH as “advanced equipment “ then you have a problem.

They give these officers an AK/INSAS and a few other bits and pieces then declare them “elite”, it takes years of building up expertise and much much more advanced and specialist equipment. Hopefully these are the foundations and they build on them quickly.

Yes @Twinblade is right TAR is more refined & stable than Ghatak as it is exact copy of Bulgarian M1F41 which is also a stable platform and very successful in India. Ghatak somehow got more orders from forces.

I thought only Ghatak, based on AK is approved for mass production& Trichy, based on FNFAL is not approved & thus has only a few minor orders

Though OFB has really fucked up Ghatak production & produced only 2000 rifles instead of 30,000 per annum

That was old design of TAR. It was then changed and now it looks similar to Arsenal AKs.
