In case someone told you such stories, This is official document which is abt Army requirement with respect to Excalibur and its dated March 2016, Their is no other official document of this recent tells that Army is looking anything else ..

The Rifle 5.56mm Mk 1C is superior to INSAS 1B1 in terms of weight, reliability, compactness, and aesthetics and has a provision for mounting of accessories like Reflex sights / optical sights, etc. OFB can manufacture such rifles at the rate of 1,00,000 nos. per annum.

This information was given by Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh in a written reply to Shri Rahul Shewale and others in Lok Sabha today.

================

I found in a PDF call, ' MOD_Booklet_English & Hindi_14.07.2016(1) ' ..

The rifle is a dummy, Its finish is not phosphate coated as in improved 1B1s, MK1C will have features from Excalibur MK1A and Improved 1B1 so does MICWS ..

================

Yes the reflex sight is made by DRDO and in production since 2013 ..

Is there any benifit of non transparent magzine over a transparent magzine ?

I think transparent magzine is more helpful anyway ...

Is there any other gun which uses transparent mag (other then our Indian made) ?

G36 and SIG 550 series use translucent mags.

I dunno about non transparent mags.. but the idea behind translucent mags is to let the soldier know how many rounds he has left before needing to reload.

Yes , transparent magzines are always helpful .
So why indian army will require opaque magzine ???

Transparent magazine with brass round in it are more eye catching, Opaque one is harder to notice ..

By transparent one our soldiers have a very important facility to look , how many rounds are available .
And for some special case we can use some type of magzine covers . That will be more beneficial I think .

You don't need an entirely transparent magazine for that - you can have a small slit-window along the length of it to know approx. number of rounds remaining...like the Magpul PMAG.
