yeah man i understand..indian army does not have the funds or the will to undertake such a program...but just imagine if in the next decade we could arm even 1 lakh of our soldiers with that ( minus direct energy weapons and plasma edged blades)..still those soldiers would be like walking demi gods against the chinese and the pakis...cheers :angry_1:
sir we are not discussing our imagination here, please do contribute in constructive manner, we are discussing F-INSAS which is under development at advance stage. Most of the tech is available for FINSAS only problem is miniaturization, that is why early version of FINSAS was dismissed by IA for being to heavy.

Jatt can these things be minituarized and have enough energy to be used as a gun?? Also plasma is usually superheated liquid how will the soldier be able to protect his hands from these high temperatures?? I think a plasma cannon maybe more practical??

yeah man..i know its a lill far fetched....i had read it somewhere i dont know..in a book in some library...see the plasma liquid will be captured by those nano generators between the two metal pieces conjoining....ahhh..its so much hard to dwescribe..anyways thanks for the suggestion..cheers

I like this gun but it is time India started focusing on more cutting edge guns, both to better equip our soldiers as well as for export purposes. If the Israelis can do it, so can we.

Hey does anyone know that the american soldiers with their so called latest equipment were no match for the Iraq terrorists. They usend Ak-47's and low end pistols and revolvers against the U.S. army. This shows that it is not the equipment with which an army can win the war, instead it is the training and the weapon mastery and the soldier's dedication for his country which wins the war. Eventhough the U.S. claims the war, they suffered great losses in the hands of the terrorists in Iraq and Afghan.:emot180:

Kunal Sir is the INSAS reliable? There was a news saying that the Army did not like the INSAS rifles and they wanted AK-47's instead of the INSAS rifles. Is this true that the Army rejected the INSAS.:happy_2:

There was some problem found during kargil due to oil leakages but now it has been corrected, Oman had recently selected it for its army. As far as AK47 is concerned army wants it for counter insurgency & terrorism operation as INSAS like M16 uses 5.56mm cartrige which works well in a war where objective is to injure enemy soldiers but not kill so that they have to disperse there resources to take care of injured soldier. But terrorists dont care even if they are injured you have to kill them, different objective so AK47s bigger 7.62mm cartridge works well here. One-shot One-target.

IA is very satisfied with INSAS, Dont fall for MEDIA reports..
AK-47 bullets works better when hits enemy within 200-100m..
Insas Bullet works just fine when make direct hit to head or heart..

Btw, AK-47 is highly inaccurate and range is half when compare to Insas, though it require less maintenance..

IN Kargil IA troopers where using INSAS but at high altitude soldiers were not provided with anti-freeze lubricant ( Not Oil leaking ) causing rifle to preform abnormally..

Actually both 7.62m43 & 5.56 are spire point bullet , SS109 ( Indian Army ) is improved 5.56mm meant for extended range with more energy and velocity which enable the bullet to shred BP jackets also it have a steel core, Though both rounds gives the terrible pain and fatal wounds, When the bullet impacts at high velocity and yaws in tissue, fragmentation creates a rapid transfer of energy which can result in massive wounding but relatively low hydrostatic shock effects, which enable these tangos to keep fighting on, until someone shoot him on head or chest,

Where as M43 ( 7.62X39mm ) round of AK on impact High hydrostatic shock effects put liquid ( Blood ) in motion by 'shock waves' or hydraulic effects... with liquid filled tissues, the effects and destruction of tissues extend in all directions far beyond the wound axis, hydrostatic shock can produce remote neural damage and produce incapacitation more quickly than blood loss effects ( Hence effective than 5.56mm in terms of incapacitation ). The debate between proponents of bullets that are "light and fast" versus bullets that are "slow and heavy" often refers to this phenomenon.

Links between brain injury and ballistic pressure waves

There is a NEW 6.8x43/45mm ( DRDO ) will have same range and same velocity of 5.56x45mm round and also the effects more or less of 7.62x39mm on impact, hence it will be a better round!

There are no problems with the Insas as far as reliability is concerned only may be the ergonomics must be improved thats it.......and that is almost certain in coming years.F-INSAS gun claims to do just that compiling the reliability of INSAS and the renowned looks of the FN F2000

INSAS does not have any Design or reliability problems. It does really well the kind of rifle it is meant to be.
The altitude problems were fringe cases that were rectified.

Where the problems with INSAS arise is the Manufacturing. The DPSU arm's factories do sub-standard job , the weapon works for the most part, but it just lacks the fine finish a more professional manufacturer would have done.

They actually hand scratch the serial numbers into the gun.

This gun is chambered for 5.56x30mm round and successful on short barrel it gives good accuracy also less blow-back, compare to 9x19mm, 5.56x30mm can penetrate BP vests..
can any one of those Insas rifles actually penetrate Level III bullet proof vest at the effective range of about 400 meters and ensure a kill? Level III BP vest are designed to stop an 7.62x51 mm or lets say an A.K round.

does our army use 5.56 x 45 mm full metal jacket armor-piercing ammo? or anything like that?
