INS Vikramaditya runs on diesel engines and when started they tend to give smoke just like a diesel locomotive..

In Navy ( Western ) Ship is considered as She ( Exception Germans ) but it is possible we don't either..

INS Vikramaditya can carry 34 Aircrafts - 21 Mig-29K and 13 Heli's at max but can only accommodate 12 Mig-29K and 5 (Ka-28 + Ka-31) in it's hanger.

Does this really worth the prize.? I mean look at US carriers (not comparing the ships) they carry 60+ combats jets so that they can be a floating airbase to project power? What would Vikramadiththya be doing for India? Blockade Pakistani naval bases?

Will it be effective as US carriers?

Vikramaditya targets smaller regional nations for domination! It is in no way a power projector, as we have other programs for that ! Its main objective would be to bomb small irritants to oblivion!

Vikramaditya is needed for fleet airdefence and its air-wing is also very capable strike force against Naval and ground targets with given weapon systems..

What good purpose will those super-carriers serve? They also need a huge fleet of support ships. These carriers alone are sitting ducks without the fleet that it operates with. They are also a financial sink-hole, and looking at the role of US super-carriers, they have been useful only when it came to subjugating tiny nations with weak militaries. Given that the US Navy's budget is more than the budget of the entire Indian military, such super-carriers are a complete waste.

Maybe in the future, but not now.

once IAF is with full force against PAF, they dont have any time to even hide from IAF,dont worry about Mig 29 and Vikramadithya, it was made to strike from air-sea route.

Well, I can put things in perspective for you. Do you think your entire armed forces can hold a candle against Vicky and its battle group of 1 destroyer and 3 frigates?

What Gorky and Vicky provide is enough for power projection in and around the IOR.

Mig-29k needs 190m to take off at MTOW. So, it can take off from carriers for strike runs at full fuel. I think this is the only aircraft in the world that can do a short take off at MTOW.

I had already posted links regarding that. 190m, 22500Kg, 94KN thrust from each engine. All done by the first two prototypes let alone the final product.

The take-off distance for 4 AAMs and a full tank of gas is estimated at 230-250m. The max take-off distance on The Vik is 180m. The only way it can carry a modest strike load is to leave the tanks half empty which leaves lack of range.

Why you need to attack with 12 MIG-29, 4 are enough and other 4 as escorts same can be against fleet size force..

We are not going to invade some country..
