Yeah, the trainers are a waste of space and only carry training value. They won't come equipped with radars from what I know.
IN intends to operate only 12 Mig-29Ks on Gorky because they want the special mission helicopters too.
They have 5 wet points and can carry 4 or 5 drop tanks at a time. So, they have use as a refueler though. The centerline drop tank will have 2150 litres and the 4 smaller drop tanks will carry 1150 litres. That's a total of 6750 litres of external fuel. For buddy refueling, the centerline drop tank needs to go though, so only 4 drop tanks when buddy refueling. Internal fuel is 5000litres.
If IN decides to install a powerful radar on it, it can function as a mini-AWACS with a very high endurance. That will cut down on the Ka-31s role.
The Mig-29K can carry 8 R-77s or 4 KH-31P or 6 KAB-500Kr or KAB-500ODs.
Serviceability rates of the Mig-29K matches western analogues. Compared to Mig-29As 200 flight hour checks, the Mig-29K only needs to be checks every 1000 flight hours. This will increase availability rates to 80-90% compared to 50-60% for Mig-29A.
The databus is all fibre optic.
RAM coating has reduced Mig-29ks RCS by 4 to 5 times compared to Mig-29A. That should be in the region of 1-2m2 in the frontal aspect.
