Wow, transformation of Surat has been great.
South India needs to start waking up. Apart from Hyderabad, no South Indian city is serious any more about proper urbanization and upgrades. With the rate of progress with Gift city, Ahmedabad, Surat, Noida, Gurugram, and Mumbai, there's a major possibility that South India will lose its urban advantage unless it keeps up. Chennai is getting more and more pathetic. Bangalore is dropping the ball. The Amravati project is abandoned. Kochi is out of the equation since its kerala. We're left with only Hyderabad as a competitive tier 1 city that's managing to keep up.

Lol, those are bare minimums in a country of billions and much smaller than larger countries and densely packed. State highways are shit for the most part and national highways still hit and miss....power grid, seriously?

Forget urban, even rural is gone now....do you know how many lakes and hills of moderate sizes are destroyed across India for quarrying, its eye watering and the sand mafia everywhere clearing out streams and causing stagnant water leading to growth of useless vegetation. Simply too many uncivilized and "educated" people.....Central may have a vision that is grand but local leaders are 1000% lukkas and the general population. Leaves very little hope unless the system puts some scare into people, the filth will win the battle.

No idea what cities you are talking about that are clean.....Indore is voted the cleanest and yet it isn't by even developing world standard outside Indian subcontinent. Problem is one and same general population and local leaders. System is dead end if it continues this way.....Modiji sarkaar is the most pussy in using majority or powers given to center to bring in change....too timid. Farmers protests are one example, no prosecutions after the first protest attack and inviting the same bs again this time before election.
All this because of low human development to this day in most states. China at the end of the day have had higher human development. Chinese are more sophisticated in demanding urban services than the crores of janata here that move from rural to urban areas doing menial jobs for most part. Their national reform board is much more sophisticated than our Niti Aayog whose website looks like Netscape browser in the 1990s.
Yet we have had a lot of successes for such a low human development country - UPI, Aadhar, significan middle class, exploding air travel, decent education, energy distribution etc.
‘One thing I will 100% agree is that we just do not have a sophisticated way of thinking about urbanization and how to go about achieving it. This has been a long standing problem. I am not sure who will even begin to think of solving it as Mudiji thinks that urban development means only funding metro trains and some small smart city projects. There is no massive urban investment being made every year into our broken cities. The union urban develop ministry has been limited to giving out smart city and swachch awards. Pretty useless. The entire urbanization project needs to be taken a lot more seriously. Even the World Bank said it but Modiji does not appear to care. Not sure why as BJP gets a lot of its vote from urban areas.

Still a lot of dust, uncoordinated aesthetics, cheap art work, lack of technology, small roads, confusing bus lanes etc. Looks more like a renovation and not transformative. I really think Indian cities need to hire top grade urban architects and pay them good money to do city design projects.

Now that Congis rule Telangana, paralysis will set in in Hyderabad too. Congis are slowly but surely destroying Bengaluru as Bengaluru development money is redirected to freebies. South Indian cities are degrading significantly.

This is Pavi to khajuri in Delhi. If you want to know the kinds of retards that live in our country, just take a look at what these fools did to the median dividers in the newly built expressway. Low levels of human development means they are unable to appreciate modernity and infrastructure.

I don’t understand this .you can create good infrastructure as much as you want but if you will not maintain it ,will not enforce civic sense in retard populace than that said infrastructure will be in the drain very soon.
Travel section of Delhi-Mumbai route on expressway . Village folks crossing at all low level with their bakri . People have set thadi beside expressway in their land and retard drivers stop their cars occupying and making one lane useless.

Again a long standing problem of using roads for businesses, walking around, playing etc. Absolutely no knowledge that vehicles are traveling at 120 kmph meaning almost all accidents will lead to death of everyone involved. So I see Delhi-Mumbai expressway consuming a few hundred unfortunate lives already. SMH.
People need to get extremely serious about urban development, road safety, leading modern disciplined lives with respect for others, good civic sense etc. Have no clue how to get the crores of retards to decent levels of behavior.
