Indore did it in 100 Acre of Land and now have adopted no dumping of waste, all of waste generated city is recycled with segregation happening at source itself, means when garbage collector comes they will not let you dump the garbage if it is not segregated and if you try to do that you will be fined heavily one of the best models and many of public buses run on fuel generated from the waste.

These old homes built randomly anywhere need to be replaced with planned villas/bungalows. But that will require enormous sums of money and peoples’ consent. Not going to happen.Why has the BJP not done anything to reform urban India? Indian cities are frankly sh!tholes of the world and our politicians are doing nothing at all to change this. During 2019 elections, pappu said he will implement local level governance with a municipality-mayor structure similar to China, USA, UK etc giving local level leaders much greater responsibility and accountability. It was the only thing smart to ever come out of his mouth but nothing has happened since then. Mudi promised it in 2015 and nothing happened either. Our cities are 100 years behind East Asian countries when you take into account the speed India changes.
Look how futuristic even random Chinese cities look like. Yet even with this there are insane amounts of urban construction going on (and ghost city my ass, the roads look quite congested). Meanwhile we had a golden chance to set a benchmark for future Indian cities with Amaravathi but the bloody jokers cancelled it. Pathethic. Amaravati is literally how China builds out new cities (and they have built 500+ of such new cities in the last 30 years). It is also how South Korea built theirs (Songdo, Sejong city etc)
^ look at this. What an absolute waste of potential. It had a built up grid layout of 15000 hectares (150km2)!

Amaravathi model showed that when there is a will there is a way. 15000 hectares were acquired by pooling from landowners very quickly. Farmers were very happy to give up their land.
