The "modern era warfare", as has been so termed on this thread, today consists of what is essentially "imposing war through other means" viz strikes at sub-threshold level, aimed at targeting the C3IEW/C3ISR&SS & disabling C4I2 & C4ID of the enemy, and using surrogates/proxies with special forces elements to achieve small, well defined objectives, aimed at wresting a strategic advantage. The intent is always to keep the conflict to sub-threshold levels, to afford a chance to 'manage' the conflict keeping international situation under reasonable control, affording plausible deniability & yet, being able to achieve objectives, either outright, or incrementally.
I am pretty sure that we do have the idea on how to field significant number of 'operatives' in field conditions, able to blend in to the "modern era battlefield" of today aka urban/rural setup of the densely populated regions of our target countries, where predominance of a specific lifestyle/cultural approach, is easily replicated by our 'assets' assigned the task, due to the diverse nature of our population (in terms of race & dietary habits) & a practical approach of 'region specific training of operatives' including and
not limited to language, custom, religious beliefs, food habits etc. One only needs to get an idea of what the curriculum for SG (and am not talking of the Alpha & Bravo Assault Teams here) actually entails.
With regards to the EW/ECMs for SF operations - the necessary capability, to undertake the missions needed, does indeed exist. Problem is a blanket ban on using the equipment in our predominant area of operations - CI/CT zones within own territories - due to the (justified) apprehensions of the 'ruling class' (not limited to the politicians) that the same may be used to keep tabs on them. This 'apprehension' is especially a source of worry for the ruling dispensation in CI/CT zones as whole economies & business models (including elections) are run on the fine balance of having an 'acceptable level of violence' (ironically, the mandate given to the armed forces in 'aid to civil authorities' in CI/CT zones) with political imperatives of the local politicians.
And yes, nice looking fancy uniforms with uniformity of the BDU, and all the hi tech gizmos, do look good. But does that translate into an effective operative able to undertake the desired task?
Also, regarding on interaction with other SF units from other countries. Why does SF component regularly have contact with US/British SF units, which is not reported in the public media except when some Joint Exercise is taken up with major PR exercise with a SF component too?
Interesting so u can generalize the whole army by just looking at the SF modernization. Indian Army knows very well how to defend this country.
Apparently, there is a lot of that going around. You can generalize by looking at uniforms nowadays.
