We used always harp about equipment, rifles attachments, uniforms, night vision etc and now that our sf guys are moving towards those things. Where are the jai ho guys who said they didnt need any of these things, all they needed was a knife between their teeth and sheer grit?

INSAS :crying:

Btw how old is this pic?
LMG one not regular 1B rifle, mostly for providing suppressing fire etc i think, do note INSAS LMGs are considered more reliable than standard issue rifles plus with their heavier barrel and scope on it could also act as an effective small-calibre DMR gun at range upto 600 some metres i guess...

Quite effective if it gets going.

Read somewhere, a quick witted CISF havaldar armed with an INSAS LMG+NVG helped protect a huge stash of explosives in Nalco Damanjodi in 2009.

CISF lost 11 out of 20 men who fought against more than 200 Naxals.

IMO, the armed forces and SF use a good number of Tonbo ARJUN TI sights which when are mounted on helmets seen a little unwieldy due to its large nature because of the battery compartment, since the sight is supposed to be capable of being mounted on a weapon immediately too, which should be replaced with the Tonbo SPARTAN or SPARTAN-S that has battery pack option rather than a compartment, so is smaller and more looks better suited for a helmet mounted role. ARJUN can instead be relegated to a weapon mounted role. Both cases if they really want to keep using TI sights in a helmet mounted role.
