why

In the early 90s at the hight of the insurgency a few foreign tourist in Kashmir got kidnapped. After a few days the British deployed the SAS to join the search for them and alot of bossing around of the Paras took place. The SAS refused to listen to any input from the Paras After much frustration the SAS spent a few weeks wandering up and down the mountains and left empty handed. ( The tourist were later killed) .

Since then we don't really care for the SAS.

So I have been told by my elders who served in the SF during that time

Are you talking about the tourists kidnapped by Al Faran? Because Norwegian FSK came to Kashmir and not SAS.

FSK was made public by the counter terror center. SAS was here but no acknowledged. Prior to this we has a long history of cooperation with SAS including in the golden temple seige.

I know that one the Golden Temple siege one, they were called the both times to advice but the first time the op dint take place. Even SG was initially modeled after them and still carries it to this day. The diving school of Indian Navy also had assistance from SBS even before the 71 war, we had close co operation with them until the GWOT kicked in i guess and they went busy all around the globe.

Hmm my memory maybe hazy but I think Marcos had a relationship with The Royal Marines and not the SBS. But j could be wrong. Will check with someone

Biggest issue with SG is that it's a filler unit. No permanent cadre.

Not Marcos directly but the diving school in cochin which predates 1971 even after that exchanges with seals and sbs
