let it be, people like to shit a lot here
I mean criticism is good but saying that "everyone is a commando" and giving the example of CRPFs ONLY commando unit which has only 10000 personnel compared to the overall strength of CRPFs 3 lakh personnel is absolutely ridiculous.

Sometimes I feel like people on this thread complain only for the sake of complaining.

If everyone is a ‘commando’/operator then no one is. India exemplifies celebrating mediocrity better than most
Commando itself is something between a regular infantry and Special Forces. Can't agree with the general notion that these new born police commando forces are good for nothing. It would have been true in the intial years ie 2010-15.But later they evolved their training regimes and every unit have their own training syllabuses and cross training between state and central police units, also they gets capsule courses from NSG, Par, Marco and Garuds. There was some instances when some of these forces when send to NSG training centre in Manesar had beaten NSG guys in certain events.
. The most revered one is Andhra Pradesh Grey hounds, Tamil Nadu rangers etc . In the Andhra Pradesh Greyhound training centre everyday you have to attend any test like Bpet, PPeT or obstacle.Andhra Grey hounds, Chattisgarh snake hunters all have unparalleled ops history.
Many of these commando units have skills far better than normal infantry or Ghatak units.

The M60 has been a real problematic weapon system. I can't imagine why we chose a legacy weapon when the US Mil ka transitioning to the 240. That being said a Modular PKM would have been better than both.

Lastly - a philosophical question - does a GPMG belong in the orbat of a SOF unit other than for vehicle. / aC mounts and for very special needs ? How many SOF patrol with with a Gimpy anymore ?
Negev, DmG-5, a modular PKP or Mk-48 fits the bill. Still dont get what advantage an M-60E6 or Mk-48 offers over an NG-7

So what should be done? According to you CRPFs commando unit should be disbanded? Who will replace them? Not everyone is a commando.
Stop calling them commandos? They don't have the wherewithal and training to be considered at that level. They're specialists whose sole purpose is to engage non-state actors in jungle warfare, and they're not exactly all that well trained.

Most of the other ones are considered SWAT or elite counter terrorism units, CRPF QAT and COBRA are the only ones that come to mind when talking about "commandos".
