There seems to be more devolved powers inside the MHA and in recent years a significant push to modernise but by targeting specific capabilities and not just creating long winded white papers

Dare I say it too that there’s a lot more dynamism and innovative thinking coming from the modern generation of IPS officers and particularly those that serve in CAPFs than you’ll find in the average MoD unit.

I just think that the MHA/CAPFs don’t burden themselves with the weight of tradition as much as the armed forces do. In the armed forces how things have been done for decades if not centuries is how they still do them today, CAPFs at a senior level mostly just want to get things done.
Another great thing is that they have chosen locally developed product.

It’s always been a question of will, I’ve had a lot of pushback when I’ve declared that most of the military tenders are just boondoggles aimed at attracting lucrative post-retirement positions or explicit kickbacks

I genuinely struggle to cheer on any increase in MoD spending knowing inevitably the lion’s share of CAPEX will find its way to foreign shores. CAPFs have long since been comfortable with Indian vendors

It is comparable to the ANVIS 10. It is a predecessor to the GNPVG-18. Some of these (ANVIS-10) are used by various spetsnaz units in Russia. As well as other DOF units worldwide. Its FoV and sight picture will be inferior to GNPVG 18, but much better than anything else in service as of today. Except perhaps GNPVG-20 ENVS. But the latter is probably not in service today.

You can’t make it up!

QAT didn’t even exist 4 years ago and is now on par with and in many crucial areas AHEAD of India’s most elite military units

so keep telling me how Indian ultra superhuman soldiers don’t need modern kit, clearly the senior officers of CRPF don’t agree

this is a clear indication that there’s something deeply deeply wrong inside the MoD and the way SFs are treated and outfitted. And specifically the PARA (SF) are the worst treated when it comes to this

What boggles my mind is that this is actually tolerated, a SF commander turns up at an op site and sees that his elite warriors are outfitted on par with or actually behind not just RR but now CRPF! What is that going to do to that team’s moral?

a failure at every freaking level

CRPF have understood the relevance of force multipliers and night fighting but the hardened SFs have been in the fight for decades and still running around night blind?

absolute kudos to CRPF and the IPS officers that have been entrusted with raising this unit in JK,for decades CAPFs had to endure the ridicule from service members and there’s constant bashing of the IPS cadre but in a matter of years they’ve been able to deliver what battle hardened macho army officers never could.

some people need to hang for this
Do you really think that if you haven't seen Para SF using these means that they don't use it? Grow up!

This is MARCOS not QAT, look at his patch, both wear same uniform but that triple arrow is not worn by QAT.

Last Year, Amit Shah had conducted a meeting with all the local defence comapnies, everything from MSME to the big players and had pretty much made it clear that the paramilitary forces are going to equip themselves with locally made gear.
I feel this development is the result of that only, I won't be surprised if in the next few years a pic of NSG operative sporting these Quad Tube NVG pops up.

Can CRPF become Indian version of marines... And not only CRPF... But CAPFs as a whole.... Marines are a primarily naval unit.... Where Capfs can become a same kind of force which is land based.... Not much investment in naval assets.... Can this be a possibility in future...Good quality of training... More investment in their equipment.... Can this help... Just asking... With qrt as its own Sf unit..

This is just QRT, rest of the CAPFs had and have pathetic kits and equipment which was relieved to a certain extent after Bulgarian AK-47s were ordered in bulk.

What are you talking about? CRPF is a police/law enforcement unit. They have their responsibilities and should be left to that

CRPF is starting to specialise more and not just have vast amounts of general battalions.

There should be a CRPF QAT raised/deployed in each state to bridge the gap between the local/state first response police units and NSG who may take time to arrive

You’re making things up

1) no such order made
2) we don’t know that it’s GPNVG-18s that are part of the stalled FMS deal
