US is moving past the razzle dazzle Battle Drill 6 emphasis.
The new phrase among soldiers is "Don't do BD6 if you can do BDA".
Recent induction of M10 Booker is for exactly that purpose.
Send a 105mm shell through the window instead of soldiers through the door.
They even classified M10 Booker as a somewhat new category called "Mobile Protected Firepower" so commanders won't try to use them like a tank (M1128 Stryker MGS was meant to do the same thing somewhat except the crewmen AND the higher ups would try to play War Thunder with it and send it up against MBTs).
US is reading the room (no pun intended). It realizes that sending a million dollar soldier through the door just for a couple of soldiers is wasteful. These things can work against jihadis in Afghanistan but would fail against other organized infantry units.
Even in the Rus-Ukr war, the video of "room clearing" are rare (except from the international legion with lots of Ex NATO COIN guys and that one trench raid by Ukrainian SOFs).
Generally, it mostly devolves into playing hot potato with nades till the other side eats it.
That or armor suppresses or blasts infantry to smithereens.
Lets be honest, this overemphasis on Battle Drill 6 was cool and sexy and aesthetic but without the element of surprise, it's a death sentence.
It worked when soldiers were rolling up sleeper cells and undisciplined terrorists who couldn't reliably place a sentry who wouldn't fall asleep mid watch but it's not going to work against VDV or KORD.
Or any infantry worth it's salt.
In that way, our tactic reigns supreme.
