In 2023. People are claiming SSG has better firing drills than Paras. SSG has more experience against better equipped and more numerous militants in KPK. What exactly has para done in the last decade that hasn’t been achieved by regular infantry? Paras recent showing have been rather poor. EDI pampore failure, Randori Behak Failure, And then Rajouri 2023 failure. And these are against the numbers of their own squad. Imagine if there were 12. 20. 30. militants per encounter.

You even have officers literally saying that even RR QRTs work better than Paras.

Yeah even garud don't fill their intended mandate rather wasting resources and objectives by guarding airbases and in name of combat experiences sending them to Kashmir is beyond foolishness bcoz that's not their role

Most of the NSG operators are deployed in Kashmir.

Point is education necessity and awareness
Most of the iaf officers don't have awareness regarding what exactly garuds should be used for at most they think of pararescue or PJ related roles but tbh even that capability they lag
Secondly they haven't experienced the necessity of such force may be due to reduced combat experience or lack of vision and forward thinking

Garud Flight 617 is at Badgam AFS bro, they're not specifically there for CI/CT. There's only one section that gets attached to RR in that area.

Yesterday had a long long argument with Major Pawan SM, twitter wala. The guy, one Jernail and his minions were hell bound on pensions. When found no argument started calling outsider and citizen not worth dying for. Asked him a plain question, pension or modernisation. He didn't reply; proves the point. Wasted hours on nonsense.

I kind of agree with him... military personnels' thought on pensions for the service they have rendered is understandable.

If India wants to maintain a large Army then they have to allocate more, on pensions as well as modernization. Otherwise cut size & bring it down to 1 million if our economic cannot support its present size. That's what Americans and Chinese are doing too, and that's why we should send some veterans into mercenary contract groups. A 40-45 year old can totally serve in Israel.

We need to stop employing soldiers for 20 years. The longest they should serve for the majority is 8 years. After 8 years you are out. That way we can avoid the pension issue. That is how the US Army does it. They push the majority out after 8 years to avoid the pension issue and only allow 10-15% to serve out the 20 years and pay pensions on top of that. Or in the alternative, create 401k IRA plan types for the soldiers and do away with pension plans.
