1 American soldier with proper training, equipment and the mammoth support infrastructure of the US military is probably worth a squad of the IA (at least) yes. Heck a US infantryman with proper C&C, ISR linked to him and LPVO (with built in ballistic computers) would make life hell for a decent number of IA grunts running at him in their fibreglass helmets, hand signals and iron sights

this applies to conventional warfare, CT/COIN is a different story and numbers will matter.

The real difference will come out at night, where almost no Indian regular infantryman has helmet mounted NVG + IR laser on his rifle.

quality is hard to measure but we all know who we’d bet on if the Indian military went up against a NATO force even half its strength…..

To be fair, apart from the US, there is no NATO force that can face the Indian Army and Air Force.

MARCOS doesn’t do nearly as much as operations as Paras bro. That’s because the terrain there isn’t for their operations. If MARCOS are really being used in Kashmir the same way Paras, the Indian upper brass must be special ed

I believe Navy wouldn't allow their boys to be canon fodders.

The vehicle is fine. its for low vis Long range missions and should be able to be helo transported. Mobility over protection is the purpose.

To be fair, apart from the US, there is no NATO force that can face the Indian Army and Air Force.

Context is everything - where would India and a Nato country fight? Indian Subcontinent where the European Country is invading us? or the Fields of Europe where we are projecting power over there?

Or a Neutral Ground - say Africa where both countries need to power project to a third location.

Who has better comms ? Better EW ? Better ELINT? Better ISR? Better Industrial Manufacturing base? Better Logistics and Transportation chain?

The above will determine the winner.

Lastly - Singling out a single NATO country is pointless as their $ Spend is on shared resources - so even if we pick a specific Country - all of NATO's infrastucture will have to be included by default (we can leave the Americans out if you wish)

Obviously not a real world scenario. But if any European NATO country had the equivalent of India's Army and Air Force, it would be the second most powerful in the alliance by a long shot, taking all the other factors into account including India's shortcomings. This is especially true when you consider the sordid readiness levels of most NATO countries, especially the Brits, Germans and Italians.

Looking at the way the Polish Army is going though, it may soon have the firepower to surpass the Indian Ground forces. Their Air Force and navy are lacking, but that's fine for Polish needs since they have the Americans to take care of those two fronts.

Lt CDr Nair who does podcasts said on Major Gaurav Arya show that Marcos was behind raising a kind of other Mukhti Bahini Group in 1971.

If someone on this forum claimed it i would not take him seriously but coming from an officer
