90% of sg ops are Para SF type ops which should have been Para Airborne or Ghatak ops.

In the last 12 years 3 Para SF teams have been pinned down.A total of 4 in 40 years.

More than 50% of what covers their body hasnt changed in a long time.

There is no vision for the future modernisation and no Future soldier plan.

This is the reality for debate.

This is not a porn site to feel good..we have soldiers getting matyred everyday.
We will have a 240 Billion dollar defence budget by 2030 if we become a 10 Trillion dollar economy hence it is upto the leaders where to use this money in future. Even Pakistani SSG roam with better kit and I recently got to know that they are using new SiG-516 Assault Rifles and we are using Bullpup rifles which are good but not always, they are very bulky and uncomfortable.

If not SG, then who does such ops for the RAW and IB?
Both IB and RAW have their own NOC units. Infact NOC instrcutors teach SG operatives how to operate UC in a ones and twos. Field craft.

Dhoval is an example.

Last year the Pak embassy In Dhaka was broken into and their computers stolen. No SG. Out intel oepratives are also very competent

More competent that SF operators.

The job mostly required is not military in nature but more of intel gathering.

They are street smart and fit in very well.

SF Operators are not well suited for this kind of jobs IMHO.

MI is more suited than SG or Para SF for recruitment.

Ssg aren't superior to Indian spec ops in any aspect

Cherry picking some random pics won’t help, bring the best pictures and then set it as a benchmark of reality, they have camouflaged High cuts, SiG-516, better helmets, better operational gear. Our SF guys mostly use Patka as helmet and no padding or gloving is seen with them.

Sig 516's variant is sig 716 which is being used by our army and it's not a special forces rifles as you check it is used by mostly police forces in other countries not by their sf.
It's also a good rifle for long range but in case of sf they mostly experience cqb, this rifle is not good for it,
For me they just spread propaganda like buying su 35, pantsir,ak-103
If anything is wrong pls correct

Sig 516 is exclusively used by SSG navy as pdw weapon.for medium range engagement they still use M4 and upgrade type 56.

Lmao
U think Marcos and para SF don't have hight cuts.
The ladakh demonstration with defense minister and nagrota op pics tell a different story. Indian spec ops are better than ssg in each and every aspect period.
As far I know in 2015 a pic of ssg operator holding a scar went viral claiming that they were acquiring it:rofl:and 5 years later they still haven't. Sure para SF use patka, but not in quantities they used it in before.

What's so special in this pic?
This is the most recent pic of them.
The gear they use now was used by India in early 2014's

SSG vs Para (SF) is an interesting exercise for obvious reasons, I will throw in some comments but with caveat that you cannot really rank 2 units, they are just different just like 2 individuals are different.

SSG's biggest advantage compared to Para SF is that it is not just a regiment, it is also a formation with its own commanders. Everything is integrated including training and procurement. Para SF for example does not even have a regiment of its own though in AFSOD at least there is a higher HQ. On our side NSG and SFF are somewhat similar in that they have a vertical structure.

It is surprising to me still, but Pak Army actually does not have any airborne regiment. SSG is all that they have.

There are rumours that Para SF and SSG went head to head in Kargil though result is not known. SSG's public record is poor, be it 1965, 1971 (genocide), Op Meghdhoot, kunduz airlift, lal masjid etc Whereas Para SF public record is generally considered to be good.

It is 99% chance that SSG would have infiltrated into J&K as jehadis over the last 3 decades. In Afghanistan they must have worked under cover as Taliban. Difficult to assess whether these ops were successful. We keep saying they work as BAT - but again is that successful or not? worth a debate.

BTW, i was wondering how much do 2 brand new 777 cost equipped with latest hi tech gadgets painted in white paint.
I know what you are getting at but that's a 100% justified investment and was needed with the 747-400s coming to the end of their service lives.

The current Air India One situation was untenable anyway and highly flawed, the new IAF-1s are exactly what is needed and a good investment.

FYI all up (unit cost+ SPS+ customisations) I think each of the two B777-300ERs are costing the GoI about $300-350M (spread over about 15 years)

All those obsessing with plate carriers
no attachments, not even a mag holder (spare mag in the pocket like a Somali child soldier), but at least they have their priorities right- selfies are a must.

The Thermal Mounted Scope and Tape Magazine?. From RR?.

Respectfully disagree bro, most of SG's work doesn't even happen in JK, they have a tiny contingent deployed there full time.

SG don't work like any other SF unit in India so parallels are just unhelpful.

I used to think this but the last decade has shown not to expect this, the defence budget has not kept pace with GDP growth, around 2012-13 it reached the $40-42BN level and has kept pretty much consistent from there meaning that as a % of GDP it has been dropping every year (in 2012 it was just over 2%, today it's around 1.5% and every year sets a new low record). Indian defence spending isn't even keeping pace with inflation so in real terms Indian defence spending is in DECLINE.

Sig 516 is a novelty for them. They primarily use M4 or AKs. And shit comms. They are whack.
