His views on use of hellimounted MMGs are valid but helicopters would not fire along or down the slopes into a narrow Nullha effectively as MGs are mounted at side doors and would not bring down frontal fire along the axis of helicopter nose. Firing on sides means flying by the side of slope and fire will be broadside sweeping fire.

My father was once a Major in a peace location and we were having dinner at night.He got a call on the landline and his expressions changed.

I was a kid at that time and turns out we had to go to an officers house who was killed in a operation and tell them about it.


I still cannot forget how the family was crying.Even their dog was crying..i wish i have to never see that day.

And even now when i remember that day i get tears in my eyes.


But no one thinks like that here.People are just here to say Jai ho without reaslising how many family have that loss to bear for the entire life.

No amount of money can buy a child a father..a young woman her husband back.

So what can you do in steep scary rocky mountain having about 70 - 80 degree slops for 200 to 300 meters down even if one is able to make a day out of the night sights. Only Markhors, Ghorals and mountain goats can nagotite such a terrain to save their lives.

Even if one is able to spot someone down below and brings hell fire on the spot there is no guarantee the terrorist would be killed. One small rock and he can survive there for ten days... a terrorist is counted dead only if you can pick up his dead body.

Rock slithering can be done but that too has to be undertaken as a deliberate organised and secured operation after a proper reconnaissance and for GoD sake not as part of an opposed search operation. Even Rambo or Cliffhanger can not do it with top class night sights.

Most of you guys are taking "chuskies" holding your handles in your hand in your bed rooms. Some others are making this as a best opportunity to abuse Generals and we know why.

Because they feel deeply appalled and perturbed by the complete lack of modern equipment that plagues the infantry and the apparent lack of care for their wellbeing that has been shown repeatedly over the decades. I mean our boots aren't exactly the brightest of the bunch when it comes to articulating their speech with proper syntax and wide range of vocabularies with eloquent enunciation and all, they just don't have the polish as the ones in the western (or far eastern) nations.

Sir,

India is a democracy and the armed forces of India come under the constitution of India and not above it.

India is Indians and not Himalayas or qutub minar or taj mahal.

If you are a old man with grey hair i understand that you would find it difficult in adjusting with how the civil society runs outside the cantonment.

I am from a Army background too.

Some of the people here are young and you and me both know the Generals of Indian army are not Gods.

There is corruption in the army and sometimes it has been at such level that if it is disclosed to public the image of the Army would be hurt.

There are mostly very wise and honest people in the army but there are some decisions that have been taken which raises doubt over the intention of the decision.

These young kids have a lot of information about the army specially about the procurement and i dare say that more than even the serving soldiers coz these kids are glued to their phones searching about military things.

I believe we have every right to question the Army because we are not China.

I say hats off to people like you for serving the nation but sir if you think that we civilians are worth nothing like it comes out in your post then let me remind you that your salary comes from people like us.

The nation grows because of civilians and business..the military just ensures its safety.And there is no reason to feel superior about it.

This is a defence forum and the forum is a place where things are discussed.

I have seen that few members have been disrespectful towards you..and i have seen a negative attitude in you post that.

If you come to this forum to increase your bp then i suggest dont come here because this is a forum for the exact reason of discussion.

We dont come here to say Jai ho.

I would say take a break and a chill pill...and come back with an attitude that people are not doubting your integrity.

All that is of no meaning to me..
Equipment for the forces is not procured by the Generals but a Civilians led MoD body .... Army Generals do not make their budget but some one else does..
That helmet, those night sights etc ... some civilians journalist and lobbyist has better say in their procurement rather than generals ... so throw them down if you wish to ... hang those who are responsible and not the generals whom many guys do not seem to like .... because they are generals and the commentator's father could not make it to a General...

Still ... efforts are made at local levels to improve the conditions and what ever is possible is procured... the local commanders do their best to provide the best within their reach and capabilities .. things will further improve with SOD / SF Command coming up and separate budgetary allocations...

Army so far has no Dhruva and apaches are also on delivery lines ... as it is both platforms are not suitable for mountainous terrain.. and the whiteout conditions..... We know from the accounts the the area was filled with troops of all sorts as the operation was going on for last five days. No General pushed the soldiers on to the terrorist for those five days. Employment of SF on the fourth / fifth day must have been considered according to the situation at hand ...

Indian Army officers and Generals are professionals and not killers.. so stop shouting that theme..

The operation's conduct is a through professional subject and one can learn it rather than acting like a boss and instructor here which belittles the supreme sacrifice of those braves..

That is why feel agitated .... Rest all is bunkum...
