SPG still look the same as a decade ago.
10 years ago the SPG was 15 yearsahead of itself by Indian standards and was on par with USS . Today they continue to maintain their edge. The key kit upgrades would never be visible to you. It would be in EW capability. Surveillance backed with AI . Counter sniper accoutis systems.. latest gen in ballistic glass, Renault Sherpas UAV , counter air systems etc .

Also their shooting drills etc are regularly evaluated and upgraded from time to time.

As far as Loadout goes .It would be 100% up-to-date.

Some you guys are getting an Invitation from Sri Lanka. Go ..Go ... Go

Do not forget to take some Tamils and Malyalis. Malyalis understand / speak Tamil well as also Sri Lanka Tamil is bit different being purer in form near to malyali. They will be your interpreters.

It is going to be hot and moist. Do enjoy lobsters.
NSG has a bomb data center. Probably they are seeking their expertise in this field.

If you look closely you can see this isn’t quite true. They have updated their plate carriers and communications over the years as well as a few other things. Other than that they don’t really need to touch anything, they are perfectly up to date really but I do think they should invest in helmets. This is purely a policy issue, the SPG clearly
Have decided they want these guys to blend in a bit in large crowds hence they don’t wear helmets which could make them more identifiable from a distance but I’d say that they should go
For uppercuts now with fully integrated comns that they can also mount NODs and other accessories onto.

Really like these combat shirts, hope they are being ordered in large scale to soon be standard issue for all SAG.

I’ve said it elsewhere. These attacks have shown that SL is out of its depth and requires external help, India should send investigators from NIA and assault teams from NSG to mop up this mess.

Sri Lanka STF their Police SF are a very old organisation and must be having such a center. If I recall correctly, initially they were trained by Israelis.
Most interesting about this news is that the team put on standby by NSG is not the main CT task force based in Delhi but a regional team
Based at the hub in Chennai. This highlights how
Far the hubs have come in terms of capability and readiness.

I’d also suggest that NSG considers re-orientating to be the go-to CT force in s.Asia available to respond to such crisis anywhere in the region and the hubs can be orientated accordingly. Instead of just covering S.India and A&N, Chennai hub can cover all of South IOR, Gujarat hub can cover the Western part of IOR etc etc.

India really needs to start acting like the net security provider of the region

In case of SAG yes . They have pretty much standardized these QZCTs . While SRG guys have started to get and surprisingly I have seen visitors of Manesar TRG CTR with these too.

These are SRG guys and few of them are state police trainees. Good thing is this is military grade clothing.

What surprises me is that it was a hired attack, organised and carried out by by ISIS to generate some money for their dwindling fortunes. The aim was to destabilize Sri Lankan economy by effecting their tourist industry so that Sri Lanka gets into deep Chinese debt trap. On top of that the drug cartel and Kerala connection has also emerged. That means the problem is more than that meets the eyes. It has all likelihood to drag on specially when the political machinery is divided and has heavy Chinese influence.

We must not forget that we have burnt our fingers in Sri Lanka earlier. The Eastern coast areas South of Batticaloa and around Colombo which has most of the Muslim population is going to be classical MOUT..

GoI can provide them training and other assistance as advisors but should not employ troops. NSG may soon be required for Kerala and Southern Tamilnadu.

NSCN (IM) – AR standoff continues; onus of maintaining peace falls on civilians
April 30, 2019

The situation on Monday remained tense in Sihai village, Ukhrul district (Manipur), as the standoff between the NSCN (IM) and 27 Assam Rifles (AR) continued. With the two parties sticking to their positions, the onus of maintaining peace in the region, as well as among the two sides, has fallen upon civilians of Ukhrul district.

“We will hold a peaceful procession on April 30 (Tuesday) from the nearby Kharasom village till Sihai to give the message of solidarity and peace to all civilians of Sihai and surrounding villages. We are with them,” said Veronica P Zingkhai, President of the Tankhul Shanao Long (TSL).

Women from seven villages of Ukhrul district will join the procession that will give an additional message. “We stand with both the parties, that is, the NSCN (IM) and 27 AR, hoping that they will refrain from any kind of armed conflict and work to re-establish the peace that we have witnessed here over the years,” said Zingkhai.

The peace procession has been necessitated as the Indian military presence grew on April 29. Witnesses reported two helicopters with more than 30 Para Commandos (Special Forces) of the Indian army landing at the Sihai village playground on Monday morning. By evening, at least two-three trucks full of AR personnel were also reported to have reached the spot (5-6km away from Sihai village), where they have surrounded an NSCN (IM) ‘undesignated camp’ with an unknown number of cadres inside.

“Some villagers have fled Sihai and gone to Ukhrul district headquarters,” informed Asha Wungnam, President of the Naga Women’s Union (NWU), who visited the area today in an attempt to mitigate the situation. “We have asked village elders to ask them to return but we cannot blame them.

Civilians remember the pre-1997 ceasefire violence and are obviously scared,” maintained Zingkhai, referring to the heightened militarization.

It was reported that two Sub Divisional Police Officers have been posted at Sihai village and the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul district visited the spot on Monday. This could not be confirmed as the DC did not respond to The Morung Express’ phone call. The Superintendent of Police did not respond to messages from the newspaper either.

Up to ‘higher-ups’ On Monday, a civil society team consisted of the NWU, All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) and the United Naga Council (UNC) met the AR Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Brigadier Mohit Sethi, at a hilltop near the NSCN (IM) camp, from where the latter is personally monitoring the operation.

“We have requested both parties to avoid armed confrontation,” said Joseph Adani, President of the ANSAM. The UNC, NWU and ANSAM were told by the AR that the orders to vacate the camp have come from “higher ups” and it is up to them to settle the matter. The AR officials, however, did not specify who the “higher ups” in this case are.

“If that is the case, then why have they created such a situation on the ground? The peace talks are happening at the highest level and it should be resolved there in which case,” held S Kho John, President of the UNC. The NWU President also maintained that while the civil society is trying its best to get the two sides to avoid armed violence, it is not possible to settle the matter “on the spot” and they will approach NSCN (IM) “higher ups” too.

Meanwhile, “this has started impacting people in the other Naga districts in Manipur State – Chandel, Senapati, Tamenglong,” noted Adani. A common question being asked to the leaders is, “are the Assam Rifles and Government of India not honouring the Indo-Naga peace talks?”
“We appeal to both parties to honour the Indo-Naga peace talks,” said the ANSAM President.

TSL President, Veronica Zingkhai, backed the appeal and reiterated that the peace procession on Tuesday will also be in “support of the Indo-Naga peace talks which should not be disturbed nor should civilians be victimized.”

Thanks But we Don’t Need NSG Commandos, Our Forces Capable Enough: Former Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa Refuses India’s Aid

Former Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa denied the need of NSG commandos, saying their forces are capable enough.

New Delhi: Sri Lanka’s former president Mahinda Rajapaksa thanked India for helping the island nation after multiple explosions on Easter Sunday but denied the need of foreign forces, like the National Security Guard, a counter-terrorism unit under India’s Ministry of Home Affairs.

“India has been helpful. But there is no need for NSG to come in. We don’t need foreign soldiers. Our forces are capable enough. We just need to give them powers and freedom,” said Rajapaksa in an exclusive interview with a leading channel. It was reported that the Narendra Modi-led Indian government has kept NSG commandoes on standby if the island nation needs any help.

Meanwhile, the former president also hit out at Sri Lankan government and blamed Maithripala Sirisena (current president of the island nation) and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe for the deadly blasts that killed over 250 people and injured more than 500. “They are busy playing politics at the cost of national security. They all knew about the growth of radicalism. They were worried about votes and vote bank and did not act,”News 18 quoted the former president as saying.

Earlier in the day, the elder brother of two suicide bombers who blew themselves up at two hotels in the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka was arrested during a raid in Dematagoda on Sunday. Reports said that Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed Ifran Ahmed was arrested in a house at the Mahawila Scheme.

The police Special Task Force also recovered a German-manufactured air gun and two swords from Ahmed’s possession. Following the bombings, the police took spice trader Mohamed Ibrahim into custody after his two sons were found to have been among those who carried out the attacks. The two suicide bombers blew themselves up at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel and the Shangri-La Hotel. Two more of Ibrahim’s sons were also arrested while another one is on the run. Ibrahim has a total of nine children.

I wonder how "Witnesses" knew the unit and designations of Army units being pressed into operations. SF don't carry Insignia into operations.
