- One of the things again to highlight is that for our SOF (And wider military) the pocurement path should ACTUALLY be

1. doing deep analytics of AAR from our SOF forces
2. then understanding how to improve their combat efficieny
3. getting the MIC to work with soldiers to come up with and refine solutions

Simply aping the west with no thought put into it is pointless.
You need a starting point. I believe, upgrades to equipment have come from joint operational experience via exercises with foreign teams recently.

100% Agree. But my only point of deviation is that Equipment + Tactic upgrades should FIRST come from lesson learnt within.

Let me give you an example - NSG - Every op (real or excercise) is dissected like a post morturm - lesson learned are put into training right away and Equipment requirements / shortcomings drawn up.

Why does the same not happen with SF and Marcos? We have at least 4 different commisions who have written on SOF forces. (I KNOW) That SOF JCO/Unit Leaders have written their own reports to Para Regt Command and Army Command but no action taken. Only piecemeal.

If we cant learn from ourselves we will never have a proper process in place to learn from others.

Fact is Units such as GROM, Philipino SOC, SoKo Seals (hell even the SSG) have done a FAR better job with organic evolution than we have.

Due to lack of Command Support the Evolution of our SOF remain within the realm of Jugad.

Every SOF evolves based on experience. Going by equipment upgrades, MARCOS lead the pack followed by PARA SF.

NSG has a very specific mission, a hybrid of SWAT and COIN tactics which it must execute with due diligence! Equipment upgrades do take place, albeit under Commander funds. This is what that entails you:

First let standardisation of existing equipment take place. The NSG composite group is great in that regard.

Yes. The US forces started wearing them because after 5yrs into the GWOT us SF operators started having hearing loss and balance issues from constant cussions from gunfire and grenades and flash bangs .there was a massive decrease in operating efficiency with SOCOM. Hence the headphones
We should buy these for our SFs & RR troops

Close but does not provide noise cancellation that (the noise) is the primary cause of ear damage
I have been recently seeing our ghatak troops with high cut helmets but not a single soldiers with ear protection communication headsets. What's the use of having high cut helmets if we're not using those ear protection communication headsets

Though Aks were with NSG right from the starting ,only now they are being spotted with Hit teams along with MP5s and Sigs.
Most probably inspired from the decision of French GIGN to use CZ805 in 7.62x39 in hostage rescue and CQBs.
