Yes , Throat mics. Ordinary mics won't be so far away from mouth.

I think the operator on the right isn't wearing a throat mic. That probably looks like the normal comms headset mic, but definitely not a computer headphone which also was my concern.

What do you mean by common? Milspec or Civilian Spec? On zooming it looks like the mike of the new headsets western units seem to be wearing. Its def not what is see even with say - Air Traffic Controllers for example.

But yes def not a computer mike
