IAF commando, 5 militants killed in Hajin gunfight

The officer who was killed was a commando of Indian Air Force elite’s special forces unit Garud. A soldier was also wounded.

It's too bad that RR , regular infantry,Assam rifles and even state police forces gets their Aks modified by Fab defence but elite Paras still goes with the classic style of nil add-ons or bare minimum like Zeiss red dots only.

It's too bad that RR , regular infantry,Assam rifles and even state police forces gets their Aks modified by Fab defence but elite Paras still goes with the classic style of nil add-ons or bare minimum like Zeiss red dots only.

The bad thing is that they still dont have Tavor.

Some members were claiming that Ghataks have Tavor 5 years ago but its not true.Para Airborne dont have it and the newly raised 11th and 12th Para had a tough time getting their hands on Tavor.

I would prefer M4 or AK over tavor. Ordinary weapons can be much flexible than bullpup versions.

Indian Air Force Garud Commando Corporal JP Nirala who made supreme sacrifice yesterday in line of duty to Motherland while fighting with Kashmiri Terrorists at Bandipora

According to sources , he hit hard his targets and did not allowed the cordon to break off. Because of his sacrifice , Garuds yesterday registered and executed a brilliant operation against militants in Kashmir and 6 militants were gunned down yesterday.

Technically speaking Tavors have superior accuracy and ambidextrous capabilities,but Aks or M4s offer scope for immense customisation as per user requirements compared with Tavors.Plus Regular para being not a Special Force, upgraded Aks or could do their mandate .
Speaking of Tavor ,are all the Tavors used by Para belong to the early batch bought back in 2007/2008?Coz the later Tavors of Marco and Garuds have Meprolite sights where as all the Tavors of Para use older Mars sights.

This is a highly critical article published about the Garuds in Kashmir but i am sharing it only because of the statement given by a Army officer about the deployment of Garuds which he says is their first time.

But sources say that the casualties suffered by the Indian elite special force unit Garud Commando is also because of inexperience in dealing with counter-insurgency operations. “There is a vulnerability factor here,” an Indian Army officer said, on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to media. “This is their first time in the Valley. They are part of a live situational training and are understanding how counter-insurgency operations are carried out. They tend to be at the forefront.”
