We've seen that with PARA (SF) years ago.
Similarly stuff like Renault sherpa, shit load of Tavors pic are are already in public domain then why bother with it again and again ?

Anyways that was in a documentary other than in service with SG. That apart from rare weapons used by SG including G3 and M 16.

Do they have modern modular plate carrier with FAST upper cut like helmets ?? Also the SCAR H and L ?
They have SCAR-H, would hope they have the other stuff; they are the very best unit India has, if they can't even be provided such basic gear it will be very sad.

Well hoping to see them. I think compact Plate Carriers and Upper cut MICH/ACH should be a standard for all the SFs during long endurance ops and full ACH for CQB. Headsets idk about that but modern noise cancelling ones like US should also be adopted with SFDRs that are on the way

SG should be able to procure whatever they desire, obviously there isn't the money for other SF units to be able to have such freedom but there should be no limits on SG, India needs to have a truly world class top tier SF unit.

INDRA EXCLUSIVE

Special Group ( 4 Vikas ) it is India's one of the most secretive organizations and specialise in covert ops and reconnaissance.
Jawans and officers from all the units of the army can join the special unit. The fascinating fact about SG is that it doesn't exist on official papers.

In pic - Special Group Cadets , after successful passing the parachute training at PTS Agra

More pics coming soon ....

4 Vikas ain't SG (unless they are on deputation) neither this is PTS Agra. The Curtiss C 46 (procured in 1962) in the background is big giveaway.

Secondly SG/SFF/ Vikas have a separate PTS far away from PTS Agra.

Vikas units are specialized High altitude warfare units since decades and one of the first to be deployed on Siachen heights under Col and also the Task force commander Col Pushkar Chand (later Brigadier). Totally unrelated with SG

Other unit was 4 Kumaon.

One observation to refute your point.
1991 Gulf War.
Special Forces-CCT teams inserted deep behind enemy lines to take out SCUDS.

No reason to say that cannot happen in our context.

You don't raise and train a special forces unit to just protect assets.
Common Sense.
You know what happened to them? many never made it back home. One was captured alive.

Chindit-style missions in deserts: perilous for SF soldiers, suicidal for a normal soldier.

We need to weigh the risks and benefits is we plan to deploy Garud's (or any other SF unit) for deep penetration missions, especially in densely populated regions.

Two patrols of SAS including that led by Andy Mc Nab.
Many more sent in and largely successful...especially Americans.

Mission Successful with the larger strategic objective of eliminating the SCUD launchers and in turn preventing Israeli retaliation which in turn would have broken the coalition being achieved.

SF is special precisely for the reason that they do what normal soldiers can't.

I know about 3 SAS patrols that went in. 2 of them abandoned their missions. Another team was KIA or MIA except for one soldier that escaped to Syria. Now, the situations are clearly different for our SF. They have to conduct missions in mountainous and jungle terrains, in densely populated areas. The technological changes since 1991 are also noticeable. All I am saying is that deep-penetration missions are the riskiest of all. They are best attempted after air superiority is secure. So, using Garuds for deep penetration into Pakistan for SEAD must be very carefully weighed.
