Is this some kind of bullet proof face mask or just a monkey cap?
Thanks to Delhi winters the NSG Mark-2 Monkey Cap has been revealed to the world :pound:

Btw the white NSG lettering on the BPJs is kindof defeating the purpose of wearing all black :blah:

It is common practice in police units (the NSG are under the MHA) around the world to identify themselves when working in civilian areas:

Anyway @aditya g it is on their backs and if they are doing their job correctly, at no point should the enemy see their backs ;)

are you joking ??? bullet proof face mask,

even if that 'bullet proof face mask' stopped bullet from penetrating it still would feel like swing of hammer to the face with full force.

As pointed out, this was more out of neccesity than anything else- there is a reason the first SWAT team in the world was the LAPD's. Such units in the US are used for everything from drug raids to armed robbery response and counter terrorism is simply on top of that. In India these units were only raised after 26/11 and their primary role is Counter Terrorism, they are not used (or at least almost never) for regular police duties as they are in the US.

+ Don't forget to compare the vast difference in defence/internal security budgets of the two nations. If India was spending >$100 Billion USD on domestic law enforcment agencies every year yo would expect to see Indian police units in some good gear too, wouldn't you?

I thought may be something like this
View attachment 7035
Ballistic face mask as part of the Mounted Soldier System

In the first pic there is no Ballistic face mask, there is a flame retardent cover for the face and in the second pic that mask offers very little actual protection, is going to uncomfortable as hell to wear and you can't wear a helmet with it which is far more important. Do you see any world class SFs around the world using it?

yeah, because india dont got civilian firearms market like usa,

so thats why on indian streets illegal or even legal firearms are absent,

usa has gun culture which promoted their gun market and like any other usa market its got hugh demand and supply,

and also there always been black market at any business and usa gun market is no exception,
so a lots of illegal firearms at american streets and its being used for crime,

and thats why they are the first ones who required such tactical police teams much before wtc terror,
and these teams are used on daily basis even if there is no terrorism.
