These are the people who are fighting for ourselves day and night to keep us safe and serve the people.
Can anybody Imagine without our traffic constable, how will the traffic clear and we go to our destination?

These people are fighting Traffic and Theifs in city and Maoists in Jungle and Terrorists in J&K and trying to keep Law and Order in our life.

I didn't need any ones praises or any shit.I didn't said 100% of police forces are bad ones. But i had many bad personal experiences.Last week only i had to give Rs 250 as bribe for my passport too the police man.
When i was in my college and during a fighting between local gons these assholes stood thhere and watched the whole thamasha and didn't do any shit to stop the attackers just because goons belong to ruling party.
Years back when i was travelling in auto in night some cops stopped the auto and demanded money from the driver and he had no other option but to give them 100 bucks.
Any way i appreciate the capabilities of kerala police in solving crimes like murder.
Any way considering the performances of rest of india's police forces no words to describe them but petty scumbags good for nothing .
In which fools paradise are you man living which prompted you to have such high praises for police.
And in which utopia do you wish to live in?

The so-called modern pampered creatures like you, who do not have any understanding of ground realities and no wish to take on solutions except whining! Why if you are so better than others why not join the force yourself and try to better it? Shouting and cursing from the sidelines is the bravest thing your ilk do, before going to sleep in your cozy little bed. For the sin of few, your kind is always ready to damn all - just like AAP. No wonder AAP got a following!

Have you asked your govt. why in most places the cops are understrength by 30-40% of the sanctioned strength. And the sanctioned strength itself is a lower estimation than requirement? Have you asked your govt. to provide more police force? How much percentage of your breath have you wasted over criticizing your govt. for not providing required no. of police personnel compared to criticising the cops? Do you have an idea in most PS the lower rank and file works shifts no less than 10 hours? No you haven't because you find your solace by cursing the cops and feel that you have conquered the world.

Take a look at the amp of police density/lakh people.

Why did you give the bribe? Why did not you complained to higher authority? It is your kind of people who embolden the few corrupts and help spread the disease. And then you say those cops are corrupt? Are you not corrupt that you paid the bucks?

I don't know what the issue was for the fight, so I am not going make a comment. But was there enough police force to handle the situation w/o endangering the cops themselves?

The auto driver had no other option but to pay? Why? Was his auto over-crowded or something?

I do not support corruption, but I know for a fact it is not going to go away completely - ever. What we can do is keep it in check, by being pro-active and not yielding to temptation of easy way out.

Let me tell you a story.

About 2 years ago, I was returning to Kolkata via Mumbai with my fiance for our marriage. We had to catch a connecting train from VT. We purchased ticket from BCT to Chrchgate, but the ticket they gave was not to churchgate but to some other station of the same value, and we did not notice. So when we alighted at Churchgate a TTE asked to check the ticket and then we found out the mistake. He was adament that we had to pay the fine, and took us to their office. By that time I was frustrated and disgusted, and then he said he is presenting a way out by offering that we a pay a single fine with unspoken inference that would be w/o challan - read bribe. There I lost my patience and said that he has 2 options - he lets us go without a fuss; or I would pay fine for both of us and then slap a complain against the person who gave us the ticket, with demand to return of the fine altogether. I was confident of the fact as I had the ticket of the connection train to BCT and then the train from CST, and the wrong ticket with time stamp in between for the disputed ticket. It went on for a while, but I was right and at the end he had to let me go w/o fine or the bribe. I did not give in to the impulse that I negotiate for a lesser bribe or that I was short on time - I did what I thought was right, despite my fiance's repeated glare that I give in.

If I had given in, I would have been abetting a corrupt action - thus being corrupt myself.

I didn't have any words for u but GTFO. I think you are living in an utopian state.
If i had objected to giving bribe he would have delayed my passport verification procedure some how.
The auto was neither over crowded nor over speed.Yet they asked for bribe coz its a common thing for police mmen to colectt daily bribe from drivers, street vendors etc.Its an unwritten law in india to give bribe each and every govt official .

Mate i totally disagree with you in this matter. The Kolkata Police Department is full of honest and hard working people who are doing an incredible job despite the fact that they are grossly under-strengthed.Look,there may be a couple of rotten apples in a basket of apples but that doesn't mean that all the other apples too are rotten.Corrupt people exist in every branch of the Indian society be it in the Police or Armed Forces and as the saying goes"A society only gets the Police force it deserves" as the Policemen are also a part of the Indian society. So if some of them are corrupt thugs then it means that we have some deep flaws in our own society...

U.S. gives Mumbai police
equipment to fight terror

The Mumbai Police on Thursday received counter-terror equipment from the United States. The explosive incident countermeasures equipment, worth $300,000, which include explosive ordnance disposal suits, specially designed helmets, disruptors and scanners, were handed over to the Mumbai Police, a statement from the U.S. Embassy here said. Addressing a special function organised to hand over the equipment, the outgoing U.S. Ambassador, Nancy J. Powell, said the relationship between the U.S. and India, the oldest and largest democracies in the world, was very strategic. "Our two nations are committed to fighting terrorism and working to make life safe for all. I am delighted to give explosive incident countermeasures equipment worth $300,000 to the Mumbai Police to aid in the fight against terrorism," she said. Since the first anti-terrorist assistance programme in 1995, the U.S. State Department has partnered with the Government of India in delivering 113 courses to the Indian Police. More than 2,000 officers have received training. "Since my arrival to New Delhi, the U.S. has contributed approximately $10 million in training and equipment through the anti-terrorist assistance programme," Ms Powell said. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD-9) bomb suit and helmet have been designed with direct input from bomb disposal technicians to provide the highest degree of modular protection and operational flexibility, the statement said. The helmet offers protection against fragments with velocities of over 683 metre per second, is made of high-strength fibre and weighs only 3.6 kg with visor. The ergonomic design allows easy movement and good visibility without strain.

Haryana cops get web-
enabled tablets

CHANDIGARH: In a bid to check the status of suspicious vehicles and e-challaning, the Haryana police has provided web-enabled tablets to field staff of traffic police across the state. An official release said on Tuesday that the addition shall help the policemen to have instant verification of the driver as well as vehicle in case of any suspicion during the routine check up. AIG traffic Sibas Kaviraj said that the tablets have been linked with crime branch as well as national and state crime record bureau. "Besides verification of vehicles, the tablets have the facility of immediate upload and flashing of information related to vehicle theft or the vehicle suspected to be involved in any kind of crime,'' he said. Police Department officials added that the tablets given to the traffic police had been linked with the server of the Crime Branch. Now, traffic police personnel would be able to get full information about the suspected vehicle through its registration number. If a vehicle gets stolen, the server would send instant information to the tablet which has entered the registration number, enabling the cops to trace the lost vehicle instantly. Earlier, long procedure was followed to identify the stolen vehicle or vehicles being smuggled, the spokesman added.
