Sorry man i didnt say each and every police officer is a corrupt one.But I had seen many corrupt police officers in my life who takes bribes from even road side tea vendors with out any reason and fines the boys who wears low waist jeanns:p.But will not do any thing against the one who travels in the sedans even if they are rapists or murderers.
And concerning army also i know there are many black sheeps among them who dones fake encounters and rapes innocent girls and takes away fund meant for the army.
There are also police officers who has killed terrorists, took bullet for us. Sometimes they are no less than an armyman. But they don't get their due respect because of the class of people who are present in every profession, who except performing his duty does every other third grade jobs. Taking bribes, killing innocent people etc etc. We should mark them and throw them away from the country.

any particular reason of white color dress of bengali police?????
The West bengal Police Force differs from Kolkata Police. West bengal Police has the same Khaki dress whereas Kolkata Police bears white dress. Kolkata Police got his white dress back in 1923 under the commissioner-ship of Charles Augustus Tegart. Notorious and well known for his crime controlling power, he reorganized the force and gave the uniform. Since then it has the same uniform.

Why will they change it? Do you think gurkha regiment has change their attire? Its nostalgic. Also in the heat and humidity of Kolkata white dress is the best. Nothing harm in keeping it. Also its a legacy. Kolkata Police was once compared to Scotland yard.

the people of India in general have a stereotypical view about the Police.they think that the Indian Police are a bunch of corrupt, good for nothing people whose only aim is to take bribes and do nothing.but the real truth is far from it.these people forget one thing that if the Police department stop working for even a single day then the entire law and order situation of the country will collapse like a pack of cards.
just imagine a day when the Traffic police is totally absent on the road, the entire city will literally come to a standstill.it's only because of these brave and dedicated men that most of us reach our offices in time.still the common people have a negative feeling toward the policemen just because a few among them take bribes and are corrupt.thank God that there are some of us still left who have got total trust and respect towards the Indian Police system.we tend to forget one thing that the common policeman is also a part of the Indian society,so if he is taking bribes or neglecting hi/her duty it only means that the society itself has got some serious flaws in it:rolleyes:

still using SLR
buddy these pics are more than 4 years old, precisely it was taken sometime in 2009.Mumbai Police was still struggling to arm all it's personnel with sophisticated imported weaponry and hence most of the Mumbai Police personnel including their commando unit aka Mumbai Police Commando(it is a separate unit) was armed with the S.L.R. rifles but with the passing of time these specialized units have been totally equipped with AK series and INSAS assault rifles.plus most of the police departments in the country still use the S.L.R. as a makeshift sharpshooter rifle and believe me it is quite capable of performing this act with near perfection:cool2:

No money for more IRB battalions: Centre to Gujarat

The Central government is in the process of setting up two marine police training institutes on the west and east coasts.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has reportedly turned down a Gujarat government request for funds to reinforce Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), citing paucity of funds.
After 26/11, security at all major ports in the country was reviewed and it was decided to improve infrastructure and increase the number of police stations in coastal districts. Gujarat proposed additional forces to be deployed in coastal districts. Coastal districts have three-layer security — marine police (under states), Coast Guard and the Navy.
The MHA told Gujarat that due to shortage of funds, proposals by Jammu and Kashmir, north-eastern states and areas affected by left-wing extremism alone were being considered for additional police force. "The central government has decided to upgrade security at all the 12 major ports by installing radiation detectors.
The department of revenue has also sanctioned for installation of three mobile scanners at ports in Chennai, Tuticorin and Kandla and four fixed scanners in Mumbai, Chennai, Tuticorin and Kandla," minister of state for home Mullappally Ramachandran told Lok Sabha.
Besides, the Central government is in the process of setting up two marine police training institutes on the west and east coasts.
"As regards west coast, after receiving responses from governments of Gujarat and Maharashtra, an MHA team visited sites offered by the two states for the proposed Marine Police Training Institute. An appropriate decision will be taken by the Central government after due consideration of various aspects of coastal security and training equipment," said Ramachandran.

ATS chief Rakesh Maria new Mumbai Police chief - The Times of India

NEW DELHI: Anti-Terrorism Squad chief Rakesh Maria has been named new police commissioner of Mumbai. After the voluntary retirement of Satyapal Singh, the post had become vacant.

Apart from chief of the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) Rakesh Maria, additional director general (ADG) of police (state traffic) Vijay Kamble and Ahmad Javed were the top contenders for the coveted post.

Rakesh Maria, who belongs to the 1981 batch of the Indian Police Service, cracked the twin blasts of Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazar in 2003. Maria also played a key role in arresting most of the accused of 1993 serial blasts.

Satyapal Singh had submitted his resignation to the state home department on January 30.
