Rejoinder to Biyanka's post:

Which is why we are going for French PWR propulsion in the SSNs, eh?

And Japanese for the I-mast, CIC. US for LM2500 engines and advanced arrestor gear, MH60Rs, Sea Guardian UAV, P8Is.

Italians for guns (which we are going as far as to replacing the Russian A-100E on the Talwars)

Bhai, rehne do.
You do not know the extent of the disgust in the service towards Russia and Russians.

Heck, we had to ENGINEER an accident to get the Chakra into drydock

I would like to add even with all talks of sanction on India, we are still going for a western engine (infant American engine on Tejas, AMCA and other aircraft) our achilles heel.
We have even decided to standardize on MT-30 for marine propulsion.
Not to mention avionics and electronics on Russian platform are immediately stripped down and replaced with Western counterparts.

All of India's subs are based on Russian designs and we are building Russian designed nuclear reactors despite the availability of French and American nuclear reactors

Every country has their own strength and India is merely playing the market and not necessarily a disposition upon Russia's weapon industry & technology.

Correct me but IIRC that they dropped that idea and went back to the original guns.

Please elaborate further. I am interested in hearing more details about that incident you alluded to.

Navy is simply not Russia's forte.

Bar nuclear submarine India has pretty much surpassed the Russians in building high tonnage ships like aircraft carriers and destroyers the likes of which the Russians haven't built post the collapse of Soviet union.

It makes a lot of sense to move towards the Japanese and french who are both he premier sea powers in their respective areas of influence.

It will be worth seeing how fast the Indian side can finalize the Japanese cic and radars for its upcoming ships and how willing the Japanese are to share their technology with us.

The development of integrated mast will be done in two phases.

What we are seeing here might actually be the product of joint development with Japanese. Their product tuned and modified for IN.
