If that is the case, nothing wrong with 1B1, 9mm pistol or 9mm carbine in service ..

Why their is a need for shoot to kill 7.62nato, No need to get 9mm carbine from Swiss either ..

Basically this is a feel good article, to impress fanboys.

The items mentioned in the article are listed in the RFI section in Indian army website, the RFI section In the IA site is outdated . RFI's are not being updated in IA website regularly since Nov 16, after DPP 2016.

IA is procuring new items which I have mentioned and discussed in the Indian army thread, This article is giving incorrect picture of the procurement going on right now.

We have listed new procurements in much better detail at DFI than in the article.

OK, I understand what you are trying to say, I thought maybe central government has taken effective measures to equip the forces as they should be.

Tavor and glock 17 are limited to SF and Ghatak. Highly unlikely they are going to be given to regular troops.

MP5 is 9mm, highly unlikely that they are going to be used in COIN.

Those anti mine boots mentioned are not for regular troops. Check the pic on ofb site, highly impractical as regular boots.

Basically this is a feel good article, to impress fanboys.
Sir, if I do know right, CRPF has access to even X-95, but limited to higher rank only. Besides CRPF in Kashmir has much better battle gear than those in naxal areas

MoD is taking steps, much more than what is being mentioned in the article.
Which includes focus on local made ammunition from Pvt companies.

BPJs , helmets and AK 47 Mods have reached front lines for trails. Rest are in pipeline. Some items which are new will take time for procurement because of lengthy trails process.

Since 2005, around 1900 CRPF Jawans have been martyred during Counter Insurgency operations against Maoist terrorists. But since 2011, more than 15600 maoists either have been killed , or captured or have surrendered! This fact proves operations against maoists are still now much successful . But CRPF need a total overhaul , they must be equipped with advanced gears, because their lives are precious .

From the arms, ammo and wireless sets captured by Maoists, its clearly evident that the CRPF party was very heavily armed. Lot of hits would have been absorbed by BPJs. Any ambush could have been broken up by use of UBGLs & LMGs. It seems that CRPF personnel did not get "special" jungle training. Maoists area requires training for full scale military warfare and not only "armed civilian policing". It seems that no wireless message was dispatched inspite of atleast "5 wireless" sets. Sad possibility is that personnel may have been sleeping without guard and/or unknowingly used Maoists as porters. Which is blandly called "breach of established patrolling procedure" in military terms.

As a military forum, we should stop squealing like monkeys and look at situation practically. Govt is opening up a sensitive area and there are bound to be causalities. Jungle warfare is manpower intensive, bloody business and we will make sacrifices. Idea is to train and equip our soldiers to extract maximum pound of flesh. We need to improve our training, equipment, electronic & human Intel and hit the overground supporters. For every dead soldier, kill 10 overground workers of Maoisits.

Modi was able to prevent terrorism in Gujarat inspite of ISI being desperate to use Muslim dis-satisfaction in Gujarat against him. This/Sukma was perhaps a tactical failure at local level but we should use it to make tactical, strategic and geopolitical improvements.

From the reports it seems that CRPF patrol had around 90-100 soldiers but instead of moving in 3 separate self supporting groups, they might have all have been moving together. The ambush took place in broad daylight which indicates that some workers, porters, villagers and even Maoists were moving together or along with the CRPF patrol. The heavy losses indicate that the whole CRPF patrol had let down their guard for lunch and most of them were asleep when they were ambushed. Most of the deaths may have taken place in the first minute with Maoists creeping right upto the CRPF personnel undetected and then CRPF party broke up (running helter skelter and firing randomly all over the place). This is a tactical failure not that of Modi. CRPF command is to be directly blamed for its failure to provide training and instill discipline.

The bunch of 25 jawans of the 100 sat for lunch and it was this group which was ambushed by the moaist .. Yes a typical tactical failure more troops should have been in vigil and less number could have had lunch may be groups of 5 instead of 25 soldiers which lead to such high casualties ..

Most comprehensive & credible source for casualties in the subcontinent. You can look up the numbers yourself.

http://www.satp.org/satporgtp/countries/india/database/indiafatalities.htm

Equipment is not going to change jack shit if training is outdated, SOPs are considered as mere suggestions, intelligence is non existent & discipline is absent.

Above all a government is needed which cares more for humans than cattle and wants to turn this country to a developed society and not the world's largest gaushala.

These hindutvawadis are real scum of this earth. They are more concerned with taking care of cattle than people and their divisive policies is taking India to precipice. India needs a genuinely secular and conservative nationalist party and Congress can provide that alternative provided it get rids of incompetent people like Rahul gandhi and anti nationals like Diggy Raja.

What germany benefits from these naxal funding killing innocent Indians.

We have to up the anti. Naxals has two face 1. Maoism 2. Christian ngo nexus for funds

Inculcate hatered in dalits against hindus helps chritian cause. Hence support in favour of foreign policy.

May be hindutvadis knows better than all other stupid seculars vermins. Hence they have common cause with national security.

Hindutvadis are resistance... lol I will not mess with them. Unless u have proper argument. Thats one of the reason naxal brigade regard them PIA lol...

Anybody leaving out the Local/State Level politcan and Local Police Force nexus in the rise of the criminal capability (money + Arms) of the Naxals is delusional.

Can you elaborate on the divisive policies of the Hindutvawadis? Perhaps on the Chit chat thread. It's out of scope here. Please elaborate it and tag me.

One of the Italians, Paolo Bosusco, had visited the area several times before and enjoyed the hospitality of the Maoists. His being taken hostage was a staged drama to humble the Indian state. Paolo is a member of an Italy based Ultra-Leftist organisation, Party of Committees to Support Resistance for Communism (CARC). In December 2011, the Maoist Communist Party of Manipur in a press release had acknowledged its association and support of some foreign based ultra-leftist outfits.

They are: Communist Party of Philippines, Association for Proletarian Solidarity, Italy (ASP), Maoist Communist Party of France, Revolutionary Communist Party Canada (PCR – RCP), and Party of the Committees to Support Resistance for Communism (CARC), Italy. Some of the western countries had played a very dubious role in fanning Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in Nepal to facilitate religious conversion. Kandhamal district of Odisha suffers from the same paradigm.

Nepal’s example should not be lost out on India.

As far as military prowess of the Maoists goes, there is evidence of AK-47s being supplied by the United Wa Army in Myanmar. The AK-47 manufacturing facility has been provided by China to the said insurgent outfit. The Maoist-ISI-LeT-militant groups nexus in Kashmir and the North-East is fairly well established. The Chinese, according to a national television channel, have also begun to supply sophisticated signal equipment with encryption
capabilities to the Maoists.

The war is on. In this war the adversary has a deadly cocktail of ideology, foreign support, religious agenda, armed cadres, criminal financing and terror. It would be anti-national to treat it as a law and order problem. The assault is now on Indian democracy and the unity of India. Let us unite and fight because now in question is the very air-of-freedom that we are breathing.
