Brother you should read about Nag first.
Nag agtm has 7km range and operational with namika platform. Its halicopter launch version also in user trial phase. This project was started in 1983.
Nag MPATGMS project started in 2015. And all MPATGMS has range of 2.5km including spike or javelins. Yes like nag they have different versions and different platforms with different ranges.
In indian environment performance parameters always come down due to exteme heat of rajasthan or extreme cold of siachin.
NAG missile as part of integrated missile development programme was conceived as man portable A/tk missile - to be second generation wire guided - Then when they found that missile is 40 kg and above and they are unable to make any MPATGM, they forgot about MPATGM and to save their skins started to developing HELINA and NAMIKA. By then Hellfire was catching everyone's imagination. So they embarked on making so called Indian Hellfire. Why does any one need a 40 kg+ missile to destroy a tank or APC?
The idea was to develop third generation , top attack, lock before launch etc etc A/tk missile. But they started with wire guided second generation missile which miserably failed.
Priority wise what is more important? HELINA, NAMIKA or MPATGM ? One does not have to be a genius to know that. However, DRDO have their own priority.
Ok , even if we go with you, DRDO started demonstrating MPATGM since 2005 and not 2015. It is about to be 2020 now. I take it that they will take another 30 years.
And what have we achieved? A missile propulsion motors and TNT filled tube which is fitted with unguaranteed, unproved and very costly foreign seeker which has proved useless. Foreign maal!!
MAYA MILI NA RAM.
The cost of project so far has been well over $4.5 billions. The cost of missile is well above $50 000 (Wiki). When it is finally declared as successful, the rate of production will be about 100 missiles pa. Indian Army's requirement is abou 85 000 missiles so how many years BDL will to deliver those 85 000.?
Why then DRDO is bent upon failing the Indian Army in battle?
