#IndianArmy and #UzbekistanArmy are conducting first ever Counter - Terrorism exercise 'Dustlik2019' at Chirchiq Training Area near Tashkent in #Uzbekistan . This is in furtherance of 3 MOU's signed between Defence Ministers of Both countries after a Gap of 15 yrs
The helo and the soldiers are uzbek or Indian. They are rappelling instead of slithering . Or have we started to also adopt the rappelling technique

:hehe: As per khoofiya OSINT from our brother "Agyat Kammandu". These are Tippmann Salvo Paintball
Guns.
Could be as those don't look like stock Barrell lenghts to me. (unless we ordered shorter barrel 716s)

But great training aid if they indeed are paintball guns. Specially considering the same guys will be using similar platforms in the future

OFB should be bitch slapped if its a defective shell.
Tax payers money is wasted. Absolute ******s
As bad as OFB is we have to remember IA is no angels either. Everyone should look back how many fires in weapon's stores happened over the past years. Totally lackadaisical chalta hai attitude in every segment. Also stories about soldiers killed while laying mines.

I didn't see any reports of soldiers killed while laying mines. Is it because of faulty mines or lack of safety precautions while laying them?

Who can forget the shooting down of our own helicopter during the recent air skirmish. Only request is not to raise our forces on a pedestal. The stink runs deep and strong.
Our forces deserve to be on a pedestal. It was a few bad apples who were blocking urgently needed modernization.

It was the de-mining effort that resulted in most casualties. Had a client once who served as a Captain in Op. Parakram mining and de-mining operations. Once he came to know I was an army brat he opened up slightly about the stupidities of the whole fiasco.

I also vaguely remember reading in newspapers that ammunition was being transported by civilian trucks to the frontline and some of them caught fire.

It is the entire system from top to bottom not a few bad apples (if it was possible to even classify which apple is bad vs good). A total rethink has to be done in the way the armed forces + support orgs work - a complete modernization is required and splitting away from antiquated colonial norms which even the briturds have long dumped.

For a total rethink political will is required. CDS, FDI in defence, Cyber Command, SOD, FMS, fast track procurement, all these things are happening.

It is safe to say that the armed forces and the country is in good hands.

Wildcraft India bags a deal to make rucksacks for the Indian Army

BENGALURU: Outdoor gear and trek-travel apparel firm Wildcraft India, which counts Sequoia Capital and Flipkart Group as some of its investors, has bagged an order from the defence ministry to make rucksacks for the Indian army. The Bengaluru-based company, known for selling rucksacks and bag packs, was in talks with the ministry for the last five years.

“We have bagged a multi-million dollar order from the Ministry of Defence to make rucksacks for the Indian army. It is an unchartered territory but creating an ideal rucksack for an Indian jawaan who spends maximum time outdoors in challenging terrain will be good learning. The order will be executed next year,” said Siddharth Sood, cofounder of Wildcraft India, at a press meet to announce the launch of a new category of travel cases.

Wildcraft has ventured into the trolleys market driven by increasing outbound tourism and short haul travel by the rising population of young travellers in India.

“Our estimate is that the organised travel bag industry is about USD 2 billion in India, increasing at 7-10% CAGR. Outbound tourism is growing at a similar CAGR. Indian travellers are one of the highest spenders who like to equip themselves well before a journey,” said Sood.

The outdoor gear firm started its operations 12 years ago with a line of rucksacks and bagpacks which continues to account for the majority of irs earnings. Four years ago, the brand introduced clothing and specialised footwear which it retails through an omni-channel format.

Wildcraft clocked Rs 650 crore sales by growing 15% during the year ended March 2019. Tepid demand in certain markets and liquidity issues on the distribution side were cited as reasons as the company failed to meet the expected 20% growth. The founders, however, found the sluggish market the best time to launch a value-proposition product in trolleys which will compete with Samsonite and VIP Industries. With the launch of the trolley category, Wildcraft is looking to increase its CAGR from 20% to 25% by the end of this fiscal.

About 40% of the company’s revenue comes from the southern states of the country. Two years ago, Wildcraft expanded overseas to the Middle-East market which currently accounts for nearly 5% of its earnings.

Indian Army Tells Officers To Log Out Of Facebook, WhatsApp
In an advisory last month, officers holding crucial position were urged to stop using WhatsApp, Facebook

The army’s cyber division has identified a new set of challenges with social media use

Facebook and WhatsApp have the potential to gather intelligence

The Indian Army’s advisory board has announced a ban on all the popular social media messaging applications, particularly Facebook and WhatsApp, for officers holding crucial posts and others who are vulnerable to hacks and leakage of confidential data.

The decision comes in light of the Pegasus-WhatsApp spying controversy which eruped last month. While the spying allegedly involves government involvement, it’s not yet known who is responsible for breaking into the phones of Indian social activists, lawyers and journalists.

Taking a safety measure, the army issued an advisory last month cautioning all the officers holding sensitive positions across divisions and brigades to stop using WhatsApp for official use.

While the Pegasus-WhatsApp spying controversy has impacted WhatsApp’s reputation, it maintains that its end-to-end encryption was not compromised. Pegasus is the marketed name for the surveillance software developed by an Israel-based NSO Group, which claims it only works with governments and government agencies.

The army cyber division also conducted an analysis of social media trends and identified a new set of challenges on the ways its officials use the internet. It claimed that social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp have the potential to gather intelligence, and can pose a threat to the army personnel families and friends.

Furthermore, as a safety precaution, the army officials and their families have been asked to stop posting their pictures in uniform or photographs of their locations that can give out details of sensitive locations on these social media applications. In fact, the social media policy for the army has been in place since 2016 and has not been taken seriously.

The Indian government’s concerns about WhatApp are not just about Pegasus, it’s also trying to track the source of fake news, misinformation and other questionable content on WhatsApp through its demands for traceability.

WhatsApp and Facebook are currently embroiled in a Supreme Court (SC) case against the Indian government over the demand for traceability of the origin of the messages sent on WhatsApp. WhatsApp claims this would weaken its end-to-end encryption and impact user privacy

NEW DELHI: The Army, undergoing a major overhaul with the planned restructuring exercise, has decided to retain a small number of personnel of the Army Education Corps (AEC). After the recommendation to close AEC by the 2016 Shekatkar Committee, the ongoing initiative of restructuring Army also concluded to wind up the Corps.

“There was a plan to readjust the AEC completely with the other branches, departments and services of the Army but now we plan to retain around 15% of the current strength and readjust the remaining officers and men,” said a senior Army officer.

At present there are 4,700 Officers and around 5,000 Junior Commissioned Officers and other ranks in the Corps. The number of women officers is also high in this corps which functions as part of Military Training Directorate under Directorate General of Military Training.

The women officers will be given a chance to join the new six streams opened for them recently. Army has allowed its women officers now to join streams of Language, Information Technology, Cyber, Air Traffic Control, Administration and Image Interpretation.

Earlier the education standards of the soldiers used to be quite low and AEC used to work on improving their educational qualifications. With time candidates with higher qualifications are joining the force. Also, the headquarters have begun training soldiers at their level thus the AEC manpower remains under utilised told the officer. Readjustment of manpower is being done in a planned manner.

AEC is entrusted with the responsibility of enhancing the educational standard of the troops and its cadre is posted at subareas (garrisons), headquarters, training centres, units, establishments, sainik schools, military schools, colleges and selection centres.

Additional responsibilites
Other than the responsibility of enhancing the educational standard of the troops and its cadre, the Corps also prepares JCOs and ORs for promotion and even for Service Selection Boards (SSB).
