BHIM - T6
A state-of-the-art 155mm Self Propelled gun named BHIM has been developed by CVRDE by integrating the T6 turret of M/S LIW, South Africa onto the Arjun derivative chassis system. After successful field trials, Army has recommended induction of this equipment into service. M/S BEML has been nominated as the nodal agency for the production of 100 nos. of BHIM. M/S BEML is to manufacture BHIM chassis and integrate with T6 turret.
There was article on BHIM being useless in Battle front, Had to do something with its weight and that class of weapon being removed from most other armies which did venture out to develop it.While still on the lookout for possible secret SPH acquisitions i found this on the DRDO website, thought you guys would be interested to comment . we all know how DENEL was blacklisted and we never got the BHIM but what if we actually did get some BHIM units?

BHIM was cancelled only because of one reason, DENEL being blacklisted;there were no other factors. It was a good gun! There was article on BHIM being useless in Battle front, Had to do something with its weight and that class of weapon being removed from most other armies which did venture out to develop it.
That's why the MoD had to cancel it.
That might have also been the reason, but I m sure of what I ve read.BHIM was cancelled only because of one reason, DENEL being blacklisted;there were no other factors. It was a good gun!
well actually only the BHIM version with the T-6 turret was cancelled as per my discussion with the DRDO team at the last DEFEXPO they are trying to mate other turrets onto the ARJUN hull and we might get a completely new gun in a few more years!
