What I know , is cluster bomb is a free fall weapon . It is dropped from air for destroying a large area on ground .

I don't think cluster bomb can be used as warheads or can be used as as a artillery ammunition .

It is not know that this is the product Army is using or a kit, Army presently has such shells for precision strike ..

As far as my knowledge goes, IA does use Krasnopol as precision guided ammo.

Now a PGK is not a whole new round. Its a addon kit with stabilizing wing and a fuze which also acts as a GPS guide. Its turns a conventional round into a precision round just like a JDAM.
M982 is a whole new round with inbuilt stabilizing wing unlike a PGK round.

Unlikely, because the deal was signed only at the end of the war July - Aug 1999.

Can't say if Russia provided many of these on short notice without the official procurement process, just like Israel.


One thing is certain, without Arty support the Army would've never occupied imp ridges such as Khalubar and Tiger Hill.

Mostly hanger queens, A&L & TATA trucks are replacing them ..

Both companies are providing hundreds of trucks to replace Russian and Swedish so does older BEML trucks ..

155 BONUS Top-Attack Anti-Armour Shell

Army also have these precision shells specifically for anti Armour role ..

If a tank has active protection system (like trophy APS which is used by Merkava) will it be able to defend itself from these type of complex ammo ?

No sir , it can defend .
Leave that .........

Lets take any genral tank mounted APS .
Now , if this type of unconventional ammunition is fired towards tank , will APS be able to detect and destroy the small projectile which is moving at speed of about 2 kmps and will destroy the tank in no time ?

As it is showing that this ammo is for anti tank purpose . It scan the shape and thermal signature of tank then activate the warhead .
What if we want to use it against any vehicle , bunker , enemy radar etc etc . Will it work ?

1239 +619 Units of TATA 6X6 CGT(Common Gun Tower) on order.
450 Units of Ashok Leyland FAT (Field Artillery Tractor)on order.

The Leyland Units are stated to Replace the Scania FAT's with the FH-77
The Tata units will be used for the D-30 & M-46 guns in the Beginning & for Dhanush later on!

कानपुर। आयुध निर्माणी बोर्ड ने सेना को देश की सबसे शक्तिशाली तोप धनुष सौंप दी है। आर्मी ने इसे अपने बेड़े में शामिल भी कर लिया है।

भारत की तीन आयुध निर्माणियों में तैयार "धनुष" की फिलहाल तीन तोपें आर्मी को सौंपी गई हैं लेकिन आर्मी ने अगले चार सालों में बोर्ड से कुल 414 तोप मांगी हैं। इस वर्ष 114 तोप मांगी गई है। इसे देखते हुए रक्षा मंत्रालय ने फील्ड गन और ओएफसी की उत्पादन क्षमता बढ़ाने के संकेत दिए हैं।

आधुनिक तोप धनुष की बैरल तैयार करने की जिम्मेदारी संयुक्त रूप से ओएफसी व फील्ड गन फैक्ट्री को मिली जबकि उसे अंतिम रूप देने की जिम्मेदारी गन कैरिज फैक्ट्री जबलपुर को मिली है। चार सालों में कई सफल ट्रायल के बाद अगस्त के दूसरे सप्ताह में तीन गन सेना के सिपुर्द की गईं।

रक्षा मंत्रालय से मिले निर्देश के बाद तोप को और आधुनिक बनाने की दिशा में काम किया जा रहा है, ताकि इसे विदेश में भी निर्यात किया जा सके। रक्षा मंत्रालय ने जुलाई में तोप का बल्क प्रोडक्शन करने का आदेश दिया है।

फील्ड गन फैक्ट्री के वरिष्ठ महाप्रबंधक नरेंद्र कुमार के मुताबिक बल्क प्रोडक्शन का आदेश मिल चुका है।

हमें साल भर में 18 गन सेना को देनी है। फिलहाल तीन तोप सेना को सौंप दी गई है, तीन अगले महीने दी जाएगी। छह और बैरल तेजी से तैयार किए जा रहे हैं।

धनुष तोप बोफोर्स से 13 किलोमीटर अधिक दूरी तक मार करने में सक्षम है। अचूक प्रहार के लिए हाईटेक टेक्निकल कंप्यूटर, इंटर्शियल नेवीगेशन सिस्टम, मॅजल वेलोसिटी रडार और ओटोमेटिक गन साइटिंग सिस्टम के अलावा इलेक्ट्रानिक स्यूट की सुविधा होगी, जिससे सेना को फायरिग में काफी मदद मिलेगी।
