AFAIK, Mi-17V5 can also airlift M777. Not sure if it was in dismantled form or otherwise.OFB 105mm can be dismantled and easily lifted by ALH or Mi-17 is 600-800 Helos by M777 is only suitable for airlift by Chinooks ie only 15 helos.
Exactly what we need. If military R&D can kick start some serious R&D in civil sector and supplement it to a certain extent, our products will become innovative and globally competitive. Also it would be great if we could see a civilian airline manufacturing company rise out of the military R&D diverted for civilian use.it says tech will only be shared for products that have civilian use.
Maybe a TATA or Mahindra (or better both individually) can create a new airline manufacturing firm that initially avoids competing with global giants like Airbus and Boeing (i.e. it competes in small airliner market first) until it acquires enough experience to give these companies a run for their money.
This is one of the most critical sectors of military-tech-for-civil-use that could see a plane born in a military avatar (to act as a strategic transport) and a civilian avatar (to act as a large airliner competing with Dreamliner and its ilk). This will significantly bring down costs for the military version of the plane thereby allowing for its induction in large numbers, thereby multiplying our strategic transport capability by a factor of 10.
Then we can re-work our entire doctrine to one which somewhere involves airdropping an entire airborne corps with a brigade comprising Mechanised infantry and Armour batallions along with 2 brigades of paratroopers behind enemy lines.
Its good to day-dream. >.<
