I suppose M777 could be carried to High alt post by Mi 26 heavy lift Helicopter.

Most likely by soon to be inducted Chinook Helicopters- that's how they are carried by NATO forces. We have only 4 Mi26s and their serviceability is low.

Anyone has any photographs of the Indian army in NBC gear? Here are two: One from the late 1980s (UK S6 Respirator and NBC Suit No.1) and the other I think from 2001 (Locally manufactured Kareta Nova respirators and NBC suits). Anybody has any more to share?

India now needs to have more MLRS. Now it is era of Artillery locating radar. In these days one can easily find another country's artillery's location. So using trucks of MLRS we have shoot and scoot. Not possible with towed artillery guns. India should increase fire rate of Pinaka and build a 155mm Rocket artillery.

Mi17V5 can also do It- I hope we see Its operational deployment on Saltoro ridge and heat up the war efforts there-

On Saltoro ridge, Mi 17 that too carrying heavy arty piece is too risky and probably crash.

Mi 17 don't venture beyond Kumar base.

A battery has 6 guns divided into 3 sections with 2 guns each, an Artillery Regiment has 3 of these batteries for a total of 18 guns per regiment.

IMO Army should consider the destructive power of 240mm mortars- The Soviets were able to use It very effectively in several of their offensives on the Panjshir valley- And they were very useful took out targets in single shot-

But why ? Our dominance over Siachen is un challenged, Pakis can't even peek into siachen let alone become a threat. They have zero presence over Saltoro ridge.

For now 105 mm, 120 mm and rarely used ATGM served us well.

But why ? Our dominance over Siachen is un challenged, Pakis can't even peek into siachen let alone become a threat. They have zero presence over Saltoro ridge.

For now 105 mm, 120 mm and rarely used ATGM served us well.

I think the time has come to turn the heat in GB area- Force Pakis out or make It too costly for them- and for that Army might have to descend down Saltoro and occupy more land- Since It is not the ceasefire line no agreement stand violated in doing such a thing-

They are willing to withdraw from there and reach a ceasefire type settlement with India- Which should not happen-

Fence is several mts inside our territory. Their are military posts and patrols beyond the fencing too.


Also act as forward observation post for arty or Mortar fire.
