in this universe if India can persuade usa as i say beggars cant be chooses and we are lagging behind best is we follow the buy borrow steal with 2nd being most respectable for us
You'll have better luck with getting design tot of F-22. Release of the YF-23 technical data is something the US Congress will never authorize.

Old engines Americans themselves are transitioning out of. And yet you'll only ever get GE engines, never the P&W stuff. Americans don't share their top tech. Man we'll continue lagging behind America unless something catastrophic happens to that country.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to revive the process of procuring six mid-air refuellers after failing to make any headway during two earlier attempts over the last two decades.

Highly placed Defence officials told The Indian Express that the request for proposal to procure six mid-air refuelling aircraft, also known as tankers, should be floated within six months to invite bids from interested Defence majors.

This is the IAF’s third attempt since 2007 to buy the tankers. Two of its earlier tenders were scrapped due to pricing disputes.

Officials said the IAF is looking to procure six “pre-owned” aircraft — these can be modified into tankers — to meet its requirement of refuellers so that they can serve for 25 to 30 years.

“Several global companies will let go of their older aircraft models in the next three to four years as they make the transition to advanced aircraft with new engines. There will be an adequate number of pre-owned aircraft available in the market which can be modified into tankers,” a Defence official said.

The IAF is looking for an Indian maintenance partner for the tankers.

Once inducted, the refuellers will fill a critical capability gap in the IAF’s inventory and will prove to be a vital strategic asset and force multiplier as they will allow fighter aircraft to stay airborne longer.

The six aircraft will be procured in addition to another tanker which the IAF would take on lease from interested global vendors to meet its training needs, the process for which has already been initiated. The IAF also provides limited refuelling efforts to the Navy’s MiG-29K fighter aircraft.

“It might take two to three years to start the deliveries of the tankers. Meanwhile, the one tanker to be leased will be used for immediate training requirements of the force,” the official said, adding that it cannot, however, be used in operations.

Currently, the IAF operates a fleet of six Russian IIyushin-78 tankers procured in 2003-04, but at any given time only three to four are serviceable. Their maintenance and serviceability issues were also brought out in an August 2017 report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) that studied their operations from 2010 to 2016. The tankers were bought in 2003-2004 at Rs 132 crore per aircraft.

Why Kawasaki is not pushing it's C2. It will win handsdown.
Twin engine TurboFan (works well at high altitude) ,that can carry more than 30T ; unlike C390, which would barely lift up Zorawar.
Modiji should make a trip to Japan.

Perhaps due to Japans’s policy restricting export of weapons. How about buying the one offered by Boeing through FMS route from USA?

unpopular opinion but we lost a chance to turn our Tu-142M naval reconnaissance and ASW planes into Tu-95M like strategic bombes

like we had 8 of them and even if you discount two that we turned into museums we could easily have turned at least 5 of them into dedicated, high lifter bombers, with modern things on it like Brahmos, Nirbhay etc it could've become our own J-6 like bomber plane.
I shared a similar thought to yours before I visited Arakkonnam base (INS Rajali) in July 2017. The only aircraft in good condition was the one in the museum; the rest had been transformed into a pile of metal.

Very Expensive
We are going for conversion of pre-owned aircraft into the refuellers. Not buying new KC-46 or A-330 MRTT.
Considering.
Good for peacetime. It doesn't look rugged enough for transportation role during war time, and on under prepared runways at 6000m height.
Aerial refuellers take off from normal safe places and choose safe route for flight
Both AWACS and refuellers avoid hostile areas.

I am talking about C2 for MTA competition.

@prateikf brought up KC for both refueler and Transportation role, so I said its not good for transportation for DBO like airstrips.

C2 is very expansive aircraft, matter of fact is, every military equipment coming from Japan is expensive
Aerial refueller main propose is to refuel aircraft in air, secondary is transport.
DBO like airstrips IAF can use other aircrafts for transport.

My all posts from beginning are exclusively about MTA not refuler.
C390 and CJ super Hercules can't lift Zorawar like tanks. It leavea us with sole contender ie. A400m.
That's equally or more expensive than C2.

Don't worry IAF can't afford both.
IAF or IA don't airlift tanks due to small no of heavy/super heavy lifters
IA use railways to transport tanks.
Fun part is, IAF struggle to buy Super Hercules for large no. of MTA role
Another MMRCA like situation.
