1) MRCA2.0 is never going to happen, and option of 36 rafales is also now over.
2) Induction 26 F18's for navy available within few years will help in having some technological edge in some or the way through various weaponaries and configurations it will carry.
3) 50 sukhois should be considered, and I dont know why 21 Mig 29's have been put on backburner despite them proving to be capable design and thrust wise in high latitude conditions. Sukhois dont give us any edge technology wise, but in future after embedding our on technologies, we can gain some edge back and then some modifications like dedicated for long range strike, dedicated bomb trucks, ew configurations can also be used.
4) Continuous and very rapid upgradation of Indian fighters like Mig 29 and Su30mki's by India with Indian systems in a dedicated manner, we are doing it in some manner.

Instead of long discussion and new ideas about how to revive dwindling squadrons of IAF on this thread, we can use one single emoji till 2028 - 2030.

That emoji is this. :crying::crying::crying::crying: (Cry, cry and Cry)

IAF has sealed its fate during last decade. Nothing could be done more except a couple of Rafale squadrons, that too possible by 2026-28.

Unfortunately, Indian Army has also started entering into spiral as IAF

Option of Rafale is never over. Post the UP election, by the time which Navy will decide Rafale-M or F-18, the final decision will be taken. If Navy goes with F-18, another 36-54 Rafales directly imported. If Navy goes with Rafale-M around 62-80 Rafale with 2nd line probably 'assembled' in India

Don't know how credible this source is but according to this Dassault has plans to manufacture rafale in India :

IAF urgently needs to order more Rafales or MRFA's.

By end of 2024, China will probably complete deliveries of 36 J-10C and 30-32 JF-17 Blk3 to Pakistan, which means PAF will have 65+ AESA radar equipped fighters. Infact, it could be more as there are unconfirmed claims that PAF has ordered about 60 J-10C.

Meanwhile if no emergency order of MRFAs, IAF have at most 52 AESA radar equipped fighters by end of 2024 (36 Rafales and 16 Tejas Mk-1A); excluding Jag Darin 3.

Which means PAF will have some numerical edge in this category, unless IAF takes urgent steps.

From other thread.

Issue is Mk1A deliverie start in 2024 and Mk2 by 2027, so if we go your route IAF will be at a numerical disadvantage for 2-3 years.
Prospective deliveries of new Rafale is expected around 2027. MRFA (other than Rafale may be expected by 2025).
Taking this into regards 2024 of Mk. 1A seems acceptable.
