The only big issue is we may have only 36 rafales and just 60 meteors against 400 J-10c and J-16 combined with SU-35 and Su-27 from PLAAF .

Numbers matter quantity will overshadow quality
There's no way we stop at 36 Rafales; and you've strangely cherry-picked just those 36 out of the entire fleet where most, if not all, fighters that are going to go up against China or Pak will have either the 100 KM Astra Mk1 (which will be improved) or the 110 KM Russian BVR ordered post-February '19. And unlike Chinese hardware, we know ours actually does work as advertised.

On top of that, you're doing the typical "read how many total fighters the other side has on Wikipedia and assume they'll be able to field them all" comparison which amateur youtube channels engage in. This has no connection to reality.

CDS isn't wrong tho
CDS can't be more wrong for an hot war situation.
Modern wars are decided by air power and air supremacy not army.
Yes, you need grunt to hold ground but its air-force and stand off weapons that deal killing blow to enemy.
The only exception to above statement is peace time issues like Galwan where by part of IAF like transport fleet act in support of IA or IN's P8I conducted ground recconance in support of IA.
Air-forces's primary charter is to achieve air supremacy or dominance over enemy and destroy enemy strategic and tactical assets. Providing ground support is an secondary charter. Theater command should get drones, rotary wing aircraft, etc. for CAS. Re-calibration must be done in such a way instead of calling air-force a support arm.
We need to get out of Army first mentality. All organisation are equally important. The concept of joint operation is to work in synergy and not make one organisation a support arm of other organisation.
Today asymmetric command like cyber, space, etc. are more important and act like massive force multipliers.

American wars are fought with air power dominance, others don’t have that kind of air power inventory or cash.

I think knowing the shelf life is great because it gives you a better idea of how long things can last while maintaining their quality. However, i might have to disagree about how quantity is better than quality. Quality is always important, especially with aircraft.

Indian fighter fleet has better availability rate than Pakistani and Chinese aircrafts due to use of of American engines but there’s a big but that will America supply spare parts during a conflict? We are not doing anything for our own Engine.

I am just saying in a do or die situation the bat munching thugs can bring as much as 400 aircrafts to the western theatre of theirs . We will always have our resources split between Paki pigs and Bat munchers . All i was trying to say was just depending on 36 Rafale alone will not save our day if shit hits the roof , Either we increase the rafale numbers or we induct more LCA and MWF sooner its better .

American wars are fought with air power dominance, others don’t have that kind of air power inventory or cash.
This is because USA design and manufactures its own aircraft along with subsystems and IAF tends to import aircraft.
Until and unless we design and locally manufacture our fighter aircraft we can't aim for absolute air power.
We need to break out of vicious import cycle if we have to challenge PLAAF.

Till today when we competed against PAF, our import mentality worked as our adversary was cash starved and even bigger importer.

This import mentality will not work against PLAAF. We need to have indigenous R&D and manufacturing if we are to challenge PRC.

Just look at PRC's progress and how the build their fighter aircraft on mass.

We need to invest very badly in Jet engine R&D and try to get our own indigenous engine with hook or crook at least make partnership with fraanch and get it done .

Moorikans will not be reliable at all if one more sanction like drama they pull our entire LCA MWF AMCA line will come to standstill in future and will get caught by our balls .

especially considering the way that land of freedom is heading in name of leftism

This import mentality will not work against PLAAF. We need to have indigenous R&D and manufacturing if we are to challenge PRC.

I've never said anything to the contrary; we all know we need more fighters.

But even with what we have on hand (not to mention several other factors like ADS, tactics, various real-world factors like climate/geography/other countries etc) - we'll deal with 'em.
