Almost 57 years back, IAF Tribunal convicted an IAF Group Captain S (I won't reveal full name for privacy of his family) of spying for Pakistan.
He gave flight plans to Pak & thus helped them shot down an IAF recce Canberra in 1959.
Later in 1962 a higher court upheld this decision and he was forced to retire dishonourably.
MoD decided not jail him in order to avoid embarrasment.

Why is everyone indifferent about the frigates? I think it's a good deal - and not to mention will augment the IN capabilities quickly!

We are going to close many deals , well in my view we should also go for few attacking Drones from USA . As govt will not going to buy anything from MMRCA2 in next few months or years so they should go for attacking drones

For the price they just aren’t worth it especially when IN has FAR more capable frigates on order (P17A).

It’s totally unnecessary to be procuring foreign frigates at this point.

Great footage of Mig 29 UPG in action in this news report:

The state of those “upgraded” MiGs is disturbing, paint is already peeling?

And how come these UPG don’t have TOPSIGHT-I HMD that is part of the upgrade package?

I think P17s are not that capable compared to Talwars. Look at their weight class and they possess same firepower.

IN is definitely impressed with Talwars for its stealthy design and want to acquire new krivaks for cheaper price than P17As.

Remember P17A will cost around $ 1 billion each, thats massive.

But Indian ship builders are not delivering ships at the pace IN wants them to.
Since, both Russians and Ukrainian money was already sunk into those ships, India did manage a good deal out of it. And not to mention India gets two ships immediately.

Yeah it used to bother me also initially but I have hardly seen any Russian equipment with tip top paint job in operational deployment. the Russians and IAF pilots trained in their jets like it that way I think.. Appeals to their machismo I guess.. the rugged, roughed up look!

If the IN orders more unit cost will
Fall considerably. 17A is worth the cost difference anyway, it is far more capable.

Define “immediately” Russians haven’t ever stuck to timelines with India.

FYI it wasn’t Russian or Ukrainian money but INDIAN, Russians used the money India paid for original Talwars to upgrade Yanter shipyard then charged India $100m EXTRA and delivered the ships late.

And from 2022 the IN will start receiving 1 fully loaderd P-17A/year which is FAR more advanced than these Russian frigates. If the IN wanted more ships of this class it should’ve just ordered more 17As.

Builder’s navy my backside.

These are multi multi million dollar pieces of advanced military hardware, not beat up trucks.

Russians are notoriously unprofessional, IAF wants to ape them?

Then they cry that IAF is not up to “their standards”, this is their standards?
