Go to Sukhoi PAK FA thread. First FGFA prototype to fly in India by 2020. Hot news right out the oven. Muricans can weep now.

The Muricans have activated their lobbys :scared2:
I don't understand what is meant by opening a production line for the F-35s in India. There are 34 subcontractors for LM all over the US and Europe who make various parts for the F-35, the final assembly being done in the US, Japan and Italy. It is well neigh impossible for India to make all or most of these parts since we lack the technical knowhow.

However, FACO or final assembly facilities in India may be created in the future provided we buy a substantial number of the F-35s for the IAF which is highly unlikely.

USN version:

Flyaway unit cost of 135 million USD this year, after that around 115 million USD and the USAF Version should be cheaper. That makes it competitive to Rafale or EF based on flyaway costs at least. The SR MMRCAs should be clearly cheaper in procurement and operational costs, which makes them them the best option, if you want to fill up the force with numbers of capable MRCAs, while saving money for FGFA and AMCA in the long run.
My source was from 2012. But things have not moved a lot since . Here is the latest info relevant to the deal offered to Belgium

http://www.defense-aerospace.com/ar...-to-reveal-cost-of-f_35-offer-to-belgium.html

From Giovanni de Briganti :

« This notification also confirms the unit cost of an F-35A is $190 million – over twice the $85 million price that Lockheed is still claiming – and which is very close to the $206 million that we determined for Lot 5 aircraft being delivered in 2017.
And those $190 million do not include the cost of ground equipment and weapons – both things that are required for a warplane to fly combat missions. »

That's not correct, since the article says:

Also included are Electronic Warfare Systems; Command, Control, Communications, Computer and Intelligence/Communications, Navigational, and Identification (C4I/CNI); Autonomic Logistics Global Support System (ALGS); Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS); Full Mission Trainer; Weapons Employment Capability, and other Subsystems, Features, and Capabilities; F-35 unique infrared flares; Reprogramming center; F-35 Performance Based Logistics; software development/integration; aircraft ferry and tanker support; support equipment; tools and test equipment; communications equipment; spares and repair parts; personnel training and training equipment; publications and technical documents; U.S. Government and contractor engineering and logistics personnel services; and other related elements of logistics and program support.
So the "estimated" cost for Belgium is the system cost, including training, logistics and spares and even a basic number of weapons.

The flyaway cost is as I showed earlier and is reducing every year and since the flyaway costs is always a fixed amount for the production, that's the best figure to compare fighter procurement costs.
System costs on the other hand differs from customer to customer, depending on requests, also on the unit numbers that are procured (the higher units, the lower the system costs).

Third Time Lucky? Indian Air Force Kickstarts Contest For 6 Tanker Aircraft
Shiv Aroor Jan 25 2018

In the wings for over three years, the Indian Air Force has finally kickstarted a highly anticipated contest to procure six flight refuelling aircraft (FRAs) from the international market. This will be the IAF’s third attempt at acquiring new tanker jets to build a now indispensable capability that’s serviced by a fleet of Il-78M aircraft...

Right in time for IAF?

The Air Force’s KC-46 tanker is almost ready for prime time

The head of Air Mobility Command said the KC-46 Pegasus is about 94 percent complete with tests needed for the aircraft’s military-specific certification.

Gen. Carlton Everhart visited Boeing in Washington state to get a hands-on look at the Air Force’s new refueling tanker.

“If everything stays on track and the weather holds, I think [Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration] can probably get everything done in the next 60 to 70 days, hopefully less,” Everhart told Air Force Times on Wednesday after flying on the KC-46 for the first time...

Any news on the CASA C-295 that were going to replace the Avro transports? AFAIK, final negotiations had begun last year and TATA was planning to build them here.

Sadly another major disappointment of the government, no movement basically since the election.

Don't sweat it. It's just impotent lungis being lungis.

BAF is a barely existent air force and will continue to remain so.

South Asia is our backyard like South America is US'. No matter how much these countries bark they couldn't do anything to get out of our influence. Even Pakistan understands this hence their daily desperate antics.

Why exactly would a Bangladeshi be anti India? I have also seen many anti Indian BD's online, but none of them tell any specific reason for their hatred. @Bengal_Tiger your thoughts on the matter?
