Thank you..... coming winters and coming summers is the name of the game for last fifteen years.....
Yes, there was missed delivery timelines, no one denies it but the reasons are multiple like political, project management, technology, attitude, accountability etc but things are improving each day. I see a light at the end of the tunnel ... it is very heartening ... If you take the example of NAG Man portable version it is developed in 2 - 3 years time.
There is a learning curve that all have to endure and for DRDO / Ordinance Factories it has been too steep ...
Import is not the permanent answer rather DRDO / Ordinance Factories need support coupled with accountability for it to deliver to Defense Forces satisfaction ... There is a cultural change in mind set that DRDO and ordinance factories are under going ...
It is the same Ichapur gun factory and other OFs that produced and supported the World War - 2 efforts . Most of these factories are not been modernized for last 50 - 60 years ... They is a immediate need of investments in order to supply quality guns and ammunition.
Look the developer needs time, money resorces etc etc is fine but Army is not developer nor a DRDO lab. They are users and they need it now and now.... who will understand that....
Indian Defense forces is the customer or end user here ... There is no two opinion that DRDO & Ordinance Factories have to deliver in time and with the quality required ... With the more and more private players in the field things are improving for good ...
Their on ground requirements can not be lumped by shouting foreign mal, dishonest generals, coming summer, coming winters, no seeker, no technology, no industrial base, no money..... they require means to carry out ther tasks... it is plain and very simple.
Very true ... Import is necessary but it is a temporary and short term measure... even Defense Forces also would like to use home made guns and ammunition in long term ...
The famed US M1 Abrams tanks had problems with their earlier avatars ... Still they persisted with it and now you see the M1 A!s are one of the best in the world ...
