Rattled Pak pushes more artillery, SG commandos close to LoC months after Article 370 abrogation
With over 2,000 troops of Special Service Group (SSG) and special operations wing at the LoC, The Pakistani Army's numbers are more than that of the Indian Army's Special Forces deployed close to the Line of Control.

The Pakistan Army has been slowly enhancing its firepower by moving its artillery close the Line of Control (LoC). It has also marginally increased the number of troops deployed at the LoC months after the abrogation of provisions under Article 370 that gave a special status to Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), according to an analysis done by the Indian Army.

With over 2,000 troops of Special Service Group (SSG) and special operations wing at the LoC, The Pakistani Army's numbers are more than that of the Indian Army's Special Forces deployed close to the Line of Control.

"The analysis calls out bogey that Pakistan has been trying to create of Kashmir being turned into a military garrison with nine lakh Indian troops," sources said.

According to the analysis, Pakistan has a deployment of close to 90,000 troops close to the LoC.

"The difference is not much but don't forget that the Indian Army has to carry out counter-terrorists and counter-infiltration attempts from Pakistan also, which leads to numbers going up. It's not just dominating the LoC," an official said.

The total deployment of the Indian Army and the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) along the LoC and hinterland is up to 2,50,000 with additional forces deployed in mainland Kashmir since August 5 for public order and counter-terror operations.

The total deployment of CAPF personnel in the hinterland is 1,60,000 as of now, sources added.

In addition, there is the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) police to carry out all the law and order duties along with the counter-terror operations in the mainland.

Sources said the numbers are much less than what is being claimed by Pakistan as part of their propaganda machinery and the deployment is well within the mutually agreed numbers by the two countries.

"The myth of nine lakh force deployment being peddled by Pakistan is nothing but propaganda."

Officials said the Pakistan Army till now felt Kashmir was a peace posting compared to their western borders where they fought bloody battles in Afghanistan-Pak region and also has been feeling the heat at the Iran border. Pak is now under pressure as the Indian forces have been hitting them hard every time there is an infiltration attempt aided by their Army, officials said.

Pakistan has been targeting civilian areas along the LoC across sectors and indulging in heavy artillery firing since the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. The attempts to push in terrorists from launchpads metres away from LoC that are full of terrorists waiting to infiltrate have also increased.
This is going to bleed Pak's economy even further. The logistics requirements of maintaining such force levels at op locations is huge.

It’s probably cheaper for them, because they don’t have to travel thousand Km to deploy, strategic depth. Probably their deployment costs are 1/3 or 1/4 of ours.

That's the idea.. also with increasing number of IBGs coming online along the Pakistan border... Pakistan Army's days of lounging far from the border are over...

For an economy a tenth of India's, the constant state of alertness, and wear and tear of equipment, will take its toll... But, we need to apply more military pressure...

that only makes sense if LoC is static. LoC is dynamic, hotly contested nowadays which will lead to more expenditures in maintaining troops and the weaponry.

‘Sharp increase’ in Pakistan’s efforts to illegally get N-tech: Berlin

The government’s reply dovetails with concerns expressed by Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV), the German domestic intelligence service, which said in a 2018 report on proliferation-related matters that there had been a “massive increase” in Pakistan’s attempts to clandestinely procure nuclear goods in Germany and other Western countries.

Dagdelen, also a member of the foreign affairs committee of German Parliament, told the TV programme Tagesschau that Iran is “moving in the right direction” in terms of proliferation activities whereas Pakistan, one of the most important recipients of German armaments among developing countries, was “not a reliable partner”.

She said, “Therefore, the federal government must end arms supplies to Pakistan, especially with regard to the Kashmir conflict.”

India should be wary of Germany... These guys are die hard pacifists now.. They cannot even fight for their own country, if Russia invades them tomorrow... Germany might think about suspending arms sales to India too...

It's not only about travel. It's about regular/daily replenishment of ammo, food, water, fuel, repair and maintenance of vehicles, deployment incl medical infra and manpower, maint of lines of communications (roads) etc all from permanent established logistical nodes/locations. Moving, deploying and maintaining even a division from its permanent established location to forward op areas is a logistics nightmare.

Being wary gets us nowhere, we have to build cross-dependency. If they cut something and cause us pain, we should be in a position to cause them pain. That is the only law this world respects.

Just a thought..

If any nationalistic journos manages to get to do a interview with a labour MP or Labour Party official.

They should ask directly whether Labour Party still believes in two state solution and if the answer is anywhere close to an yes, the journo should ask whether the same logic applies in Britain as well.

Two state solution in Israel as well as India is “Muslims and natives cannot coexist in same nation”.

Picked it up from a NewsX.
